April 24, 20179 yr I'm very confident of winning the league now, the winner of the game on Saturday will have a huge boost for the run in and thankfully it was us.
April 24, 20179 yr I reckon the next couple of games should tell us exactly where the league is going this year, if we can maintain or extend our points gap after the conclusion of the game at Goodison it will be all over however if we were to further slip up I can see us capitulating.
April 26, 20179 yr Getting closer to that title. Let's pray with Blueblur: Our chairman,Who art from Russia.Business be thy game.Thine investment come,Sweet trophies won,In the league, as they are in Europe.Give us this day our daily win,And lead us not into irrelevance,And obscurity,Like Liverpool.Ro-Man. (nicked it from the Guardian comments....)
April 26, 20179 yr I'll be skeptical until its done. Even if we were 3-0 up, with 1 win required and 1 minute to go, i'd be worried.
April 26, 20179 yr I think we will do it now, after last night and seeing Diego's form return I just think it ours. I now expect us to beat Everton, though of course Lukaku and the young kid Davies will try and impress yet just think we will have too much.
April 26, 20179 yr If Palace have half decent keeper the lead is 6 points, Hennessey is turd, worst performance by keeper in years. Chelsea needs to score early this weekend, should Faber start
April 26, 20179 yr Disappointing Palace couldn't hold on. Let's hope Arsenal can pick up something. I don't have much faith in them but they have picked up some form. Everton do have a good home record so will be tough. Though I actually think we're better playing away from home with the counter attack. After seeing last night performance, I think the team will be up for it. They looked positive.
April 26, 20179 yr The way Everton are playing at home I doubt we'll keep a clean sheet. Repeat of the 6-3 win in 2014, please!

That was a very good shot by Eriksen. It bounced just in front of the keeper and was right into the bottom corner. That shot would have beaten most keepers. If you think that was the worst goalkeeping performance in years then you can't have seen many football matches in that time.

April 26, 20179 yr Spurs grind out a win with the pressure on, and yet another cleansheet. We cant afford to drop any more points or they will take it.

April 26, 20179 yr Just now, Stim said: Well we can drop 3 points Mathematically, yes, but what it would do to confidence and the pressure could be very damaging.

April 26, 20179 yr Spurs play Arsenal this weekend. Big Pete, we'll love you even more if you keep out the Spuds...

Someone show him Dave beasant at the bridge in the early 90's v Norwich, the mother of all goalkeeping nightmares!!

If that is the case then the title is going to them. No way with the way we are defending we win both of everton and west brom, never mind our home games. Really is a an all or nothing scenario. Win both and we beat two rivals to two huge trophies. Lose and well... Any of you who live on London may want to go work abroad for a year.
April 26, 20179 yr As carrickblue said in the nearest and dearest thread, Spurs have won 8 league games on the trot for only the third time in their history. The other times they've done that they have won the league. So now I am feeling even more skeptical.

Everton is the big question mark for in terms of our run-in, and I can honestly see any result in that one given how we have been defending recently. Whatever happens, we'll still be top of the League at the end of this week. The home games though are very winnable on paper, as is WBA whose season will essentially be over by that point. That's not to say that they will roll over but we really should have too much for them at this point. At the same time, let's not forget that Tottenham have two hard home games as well as 3 away games, including a big rival in West Ham and Hull who are in great form at home and most likely will need a result on the last day. Spurs have generally found it much tougher away from home this season; overall, the odds are still very much against them.

Arsenal first, what is their record like in head to heads against the top teams away from home? Pretty poor right? West ham are a poor side this season. A derby game sure, so was tonight and they won that and palace are a much better team than west ham. United? Jose already is short of many players and said his priority is the europa league. Were it at ot and United out of Europe it is different. It is not. Finally the foxes who have nothing left to play for and hull who may well have nothing left to play for. If they do they lose by the odd goal if they don't they get thrashed. On paper is their run harder than ours? Yes. I will say this I am sure our 5 opponents will give us a majority of harder games more than Spurs will do.

On the flip side you could argue that after Everton we play 4 average to poor teams that are will effectively either be relegated or mentally on the beach. Edited April 26, 20179 yr by Celery1989
