At least, then we'd have some sort of lame excuse why we allowed City to sign three quality wingbacks right under our noses. They all cost a hell of a lot and wouldn't agree on the quality part of that comment either. Take away Walkers englishness and pace he is awful, he can't cross, can't tackle and has very limited positional awareness, him under Pep is a recipe for disaster not success. Danilo has been on the bench at RM since he has been there so it may take him a while to regain what he had at porto and even then he looked defensively suspect. Both are probably worse than Zabaleta atm in all aspects bar pace. And can't really comment on Mendy but he is likely better than Clichy and Kolorov so he will improve them, but again from what I have heard he also is better going forward than back. Danilo would have made good back up for both lwb and rwb but for 30m is a risk and Mendy may have been useful but is he much better than Alonso he certainly isn't on Sandro's level. Overall not fussed we missed out on both and I am extremely glad we dogded the walker bullet. Edited July 31, 20178 yr by PedroMendez

Both Mendi and Walker are easily better than our starting fullbacks. Haven't seen enough of Danilo to get an opinion, but if Conte wanted him and Walker, I trust they could have brought something that we're currently missing.

Walker isnt easily better than Moses, his deficiencies as well as Moses' I might add are massively covered for by the way Poch has Tottenham play there is a reason Walker is kak everytime he plays for England. As I said can't comment to much on Mendy probably is slightly better than Alonso but given Alonso's form last season dropping him for someone slightly better is a bit of a kick in the teeth. And I imagine Mendy will have wanted to be guaranteed first choice. Wouldn't have mind if we were signing him for competition though.

Anyway, that's just my opinion.

Walker is definitely better than Moses in every aspect form pace to technical ball skills to decision making. Missing out on Mendy is a big blow too but I suppose the board wouldn't want to fork out 52 million pounds to compete against Man City.
July 31, 20178 yr Come on make this happen. Arguably would be our biggest transfer in the window. Even bigger than Morata.
July 31, 20178 yr Quote Massimiliano Allegri says Alex Sandro is staying at Juventus http://www.espn.co.uk/football/story/3169497/massimiliano-allegri-says-alex-sandro-is-staying-at-juventus

If only the transfer world worked like that. :(
July 31, 20178 yr Only way it will happen now is if Sandro forces it, guess we better start looking elsewhere.

If Sandro decides he wants to leave, nothing to suggest that Juventus will get in his way judging from their previous outgoings. However that's the key, Sandro will have to force a move.

I believe we need to force the issue and let the player know he needs to make his feelings known if he actually wants the deal to happen. We cannot afford to linger much longer or by the time Sandro signs his new Juve contract we'll be left with no alternatives available.

July 31, 20178 yr Conte doesn't seem to have the pulling power for some reason or other. Champions of England, champions league football, biggest club in the capital, big wages on offer... Yet still players are choosing other clubs... :|
August 1, 20178 yr One more month Tom and you can change it to "did we sign Alex Sandro this window? No"
August 1, 20178 yr They wanted matic we sold matic to Utd that tells me that no deal was reached so this was a fuxk off to them, if they were going to give us Sandro we would hold on to matic as a bargaining chip not sell a player they are intrested in while we are courting Sandro, deal is dead.

Yeah, I can concur with this. I'm not that optimistic that the board can pull this anymore once rumours about Drinkwater are popping up. The board is getting desperate
August 1, 20178 yr At Allegri's press conference yesterday he stated not only that Alex Sandro is staying at Juventus but that the player is happy to do so and as a result he is definitely not for sale. We need to focus now on the main two alternatives that have been discussed here in recent weeks. 11 days to the start of the Premier League openers..
