Agreed, he's openly admitteded it was his dream to play for Chelsea, he deserves a chance.

Almost every player that signs for (insert top club) says that. Ffs Matic has just said that about United. It means nothing these days.

"Rahman has "Baba" on the back of his jersey, the name of his Chelsea-supporting father.[26] Baba went to the prestigious Notre Dame Seminary Senior High School in Navrongo for his second cycle education. Baba has claimed that he wants to be a legend at Chelsea like the fellow Ghanaian Chelsea legend Michael Essien."

Doesn't strike me as someone who says they're a fan for the sake of it.

Lukaku also once said that. Cried at Stamford Bridge and all that. Said Drogba was his hero. Blah blah blah. As I said, it means nothing.

That Tierney kid wouldn't be a bad signing right now.

Was only going to become an option if Celtic missed out on CL. With it, he'll stay this season at least.

Still think Lukaku is a fan of Chelsea.

It's the Raiola effect

Am surprised we are still linked with him this after that top performance by Alonso against Spurs. I dread to see what happens Alonso if we eventually sign Sandro as Alonso can't play anywhere in our formation except LWB. Conte will find it difficult to pick a team.

Sorry to say that Alonso had his fair share of poor games last season too so having another LWB for competition makes sense...I'd grab Tierney from Celtic now before the queue forms...Pat Nevin has been raving about him...

Yup. Against Spurs we played a formation that worked to his strengths. In a game where he is the sole defensive option on the left he can be left exposed.

And if not exposed, then absolutely knackered. Him and Moses can't do their job on all fronts. So I agree we need competition, I dont think we need to spunk 70m+ on that though so Tierney sounds like a decent shout

Christ at long last there's someone else on here that knows what he's talking about...

I was sad to consider replacing him because I think he keeps getting better and is great going forward.

The issue is if he is isolated there is tye issue that if we stick with him and VM we are going to be restricted to the same sort of formation against spurs, conte has learned last season that high press teams cause too many issues for us so the only options are better wingbacks or a different set up for big games.

Alex Sandro will forever be a player I desire at Chelsea.
Just still chuffed at Alonso's performance though, of course I'd still take Sandro.

I never wanted a replacement, because I was one of those people who thought Alonso was better than Moses. Only his pace didn't look too good, but hey a guy like Ryan Bertrand could fix that.

But Sandro is a Top 3 player in his position, I can't remember the last time we bought someone who was top 3 in their position at the time of buying.

You won't mind seeing Alonso on the bench in favor of Sandro? Lol, Sandro better be good at free kicks as well or else!

Alonso has a lot to his game that you don't see in other wing backs, his crossing is good, defensive skills decent and good ball contol, but thats normal for a wing back, but he also knows how to play a defence splitting pass, is great with his head, has an awesome shot, and to top it off his free kicks are immence, how many other wingbacks possess these skills?

Ditching him because he is a bit slower than ideal would be madness considering what else he brings to the table. Bring in a player to rotate with him, but not somwone to relegate him to the bench.
