We retired Zola's number 25 so why wouldn't we retire 26 when it's our captain, leader, legend John Terry in question...

Unbelievable! The Sun refuse to print any of those stories I made up about Nigel Farage, and a few of you post one-line opinions on an unofficial fan forum and get your names in the newspaper!

For me, the people against retiring it, are you going to be fine with a new player wearing JT's shirt next season? Because it'll be an odd sight. I'd be fine with resting the number for a couple of seasons, I definitely would not reissue it next season. If we retired the number 25 shirt, unofficially or not, that isn't important, I think retiring JT's number would be a nice gesture, nothing against it, I certainly don't think it's stupid.

Retire it until somebody is good enough and cares just as much about Chelsea as Terry has over the years.

Exactly, good point. I don't want to watch any old player wearing the number 26 shirt, someone should earn that shirt.

Yes definitely retire it. When he was given that number no one probably thought he would go on to be the most successful Captain in our history. He never asked to change numbers to the traditional centre back numbers of 5 or 6 when they became available so the number 26 has become synonymous with JT. It would be different if it was a number between 1-11. I think it would be a fitting gesture by the club to our Captain, Leader, Legend.

Alternative posts!

Not one of our currents players will switch to 26 after the season.

No new player (hope we´ll get some of high quality) will demand the 26.

So there will be no reason to retire it, as it won´t has to be retired.
