Man, I'd love England to win the World Cup. As an Australian who spent 7 formative years of his life in England, they're very much a second home for me. It's where my love of football started. I always drift into strong patriotism for Australia when the two nations face off, but when England is playing anyone else, I'm happy to see them do well. It's crazy how Englands half of the World Cup has opened up so much.

They have a genuine chance of making a final. It won't be easy, but Sweden (and probably Croatia), are beatable. I would love to see them in a final. It would be huge. For as long as I've been alive, England has always been a nation with such high expectations, but no performances to back it up...like some sort of twisted joke. I feel like it's only been the past decade or so where England and tournaments has become a football meme. It would be nice to put that to rest.

I had an Ozzie mate who did his OE here and he followed CFC up and down the country and midweek too. Stood and sang with me when we sang at 2.55pm at home to WHU when no-one else would. Unfortunately think his health has taken a bad turn as he hasn't posted on FB for some time. He followed England too.

No. That's not correct man. The almost best player in the League is very important for the Belgian squad.

He is, and he's captain as well, isn't he?  AND his brother is in the squad.  Thorgan looked very good against England, even though he was played out of position.

the shenanigans wasn't all the dirty cheating Colombians and their coke-fuelled dark arts.

How the f**k he never sent any Colombians off i don't know, you could tell they are managed by an Argentinian, all the South American teams are dirty f**kers, i grew up thinking they had all the flair players, but now i just think they're all cheating c**ts.

All these cameras and VAR officials, is it too much to ask they call up ALL cheating, scuffing up the penalty spot, employing backroom staff to attack players as they leave the pitch, 10yd spray line scrubbed out and ignored, spitting on the opposition water bottles, the list goes on, not pleasant to view with your 9yo grandson.

The South and Central American football teams have disgraced themselves throughout the tournament. They have given the game a bad name and they are largely responsible for this mocking this sport receives from people around the world. It's worse than ever in my opinion. You know it's bad when Panama try and resume play when England were celebrating a goal. It's like sportsmanship isn't even a thing to these countries.

I'm not sure that you can limit the cause of the derision that non-football fans pour on the game to the South and Central American sides.

Not one team has covered themselves in sportsmanship glory.  I think possibly Japan, but I didn't see all their matches so can't be sure.

Certainly none of the European teams.  And certainly no Premier League, German, Spanish, Italian or French league teams.

The game has high stakes nowadays that players would resort to pretty much anything bar murder to ensure the other guys lose.

I love Chelsea & I love the Shed End but I can't support The English Team. I only people I like on that side is Gary Cahill, RLC, Vardy & Steve Holland. Way too spudzy for me. Then you have that punk Sterling, who I still believe is a dirty red scouser (Yes, I know he plays for City). The Freakin' God's Gift of defending Stones. Sorry I have to be like Maradona, but w/out the coke

ps....don't say The Yanks didn't give you anything - checkout the ref from that match vs Colombia - Happy Independence Day!!!

your twat of a ref was about as much use as a chocolate teapot, headbutt = yellow card, what f**king rule book has he got ? the south american version ? when surrounded by players gobbing off, he just stood there and took it, refs like that have no place in the game, if you got no bollocks, go caddie a golfer, leave refereeing to the men.

first you complain about The Yank ref (I agree, he sucks) but yet you mock a decision that England benefited from - come on Henderson started that crap & Barrios was trying to bring his head back up - talking about being a bully, but then again he is a dirty red scouser - another reason why I can't support England

Paddy Power had a good tweet last night during the game.

The referee has no control over this, like the supply teaching who turns up with a friendly attitude and ends up getting locked in the cupboard. #ENGCOL

now that I have thought about this more clearly, I am sure England fans would have put a petition to replay the match if England lost the shootout

Well at least Henderson wouldn't  be executed upon his return,
