  1. 1. Here are the current favorites with Conte included. Jody Morris is in there as he is the current youth team manager, and promoting from within seems to have worked for Barca, so why not us?!

I think that Roman should sack the entire Board for bringing the Club into disrepute.

We are absolutely without any strategy or direction and are becoming, quite rightly, the laughing stock of European football and I wouldn't be at all surprised if, very soon we are unable to find a top class Manager who even wants to manage the Club, despite the riches on offer.

The entire Conte/Sarri fiasco has been mismanaged at the highest level and our inability to get this most important of appointments 100% correct speaks volumes for the pathetic mess in other areas of the Club such as the DOF, coaching teams, loan players and the Stadium.

Jesus, get a grip will you! So dramatic....

We are not the "laughing stock of European football".

We won't struggle to find a top class Manager unless we stop being able to offer competitive wages and/or compete at the highest level. Worry about that if/when it happens.

You are seemingly letting your impatience & frustration drive you to cook up & conclude all sort of theories in your head, but the reality is you have no idea what strategy/direction might be agreed behind the scenes. None of us do.

I am not saying everything is perfect, but many of the issues you are referencing are complex situations, and some of them we might have to be patient on. Pre-season hasn't even started yet. Most senior players are not even in the country, let alone Cobham.

The club gets a lot wrong, but it also gets a lot right. Our success (that you have no doubt greatly enjoyed) over the last 15 years vouches for that.

Sorry to pick on your post in isolation, but you do come across a bit like a spoiled brat having a tantrum.

We know what Marina's job is, it's player acquisition. We know that we have failed spectacularly in trying to obtain our targets. We also know from the Stones deal that we lowballed until Everton got pissed off and told us to do one. Honestly, with how much failure that has happened in negotiating players transfers I don't know how she hasn't been sacked.

Papy was 3rd choice panic buy after we failed to buy Stones and Marquinhos. Luiz was 4th choice behind Koulibaly, Romagnoli and Marquinhos again. Alonso was a back up option bought on the last day. Zappacosta was a panic buy on the last day. Drinkwater was second choice behind Chamberlain. Morata was second choice behind Lukaku and now we have this summer's debacle. Over a month to get a manager, two days away from pre season and nobody has a clue who will be in charge (that includes staff and players), it's anarchy. Whoever is in charge should be sacked just like anybody else would with so many failures to their name.

You can't even get excited about the season because absolutely nothing is happening. It's completely devoid of hope.

How do you know? Emenalo was the scapegoat before now its Marina. The general public have no clue on the club's behind the scenes actions. I agree signings have been terrible but cant single out an individual like that.

I truly would be extremely interested in where you have obtained all of this very detailed inside information about the transfer dealings of the club over several seasons.  Particularly your in-depth knowledge of the order of planned acquisitions and your obvious insight into how some players were bought as a poor second choice to a player who stated publicly that he wasn't coming here because we couldn't offer him the position he wanted to  play in.

Really, it's getting quite tiresome you taking every opportunity you can to talk down the club and the board, but making sh*t up or guessing  and posting it as fact is just a pain in the arse.

Manager 's should be judged on their own merits. If Sarri is winning 3 games in nearly 4 months and getting repeatedly outsmarted by mediocre manager's all while delivering crap football i can imagine most of said fanbase would turn, and rightly so.

If he however does everything in his power tactically but still fell short because we ain't quite there yet  (similar to Jose's first season back) then im confident the majority will still be fully behind him.

So different standards of performance required from different managers?  We as fans get to judge on our own personal criteria whether a manager is good or not based on different things?

You hold onto the Watford/Bournemouth fiasco a little too tightly for me.   sh*t happens in football  as in life.  We lose matches that we "should" win from time to time.  That's what makes football so exciting.  We had a poor spell last season, it's true.  We have one every season.  For several years we couldn't buy a win in November. Most of us are used to it.

Yes, we had a poor spell, but still finished in the top 5, 5 points adrift of 4th but 7 points clear of 6th place and won the FA Cup.  Most premier league teams and their fans would kill for a season like that.

Absolutely. It was a dream for many of us older supporters, and something I do not forget nor take for granted.

We have no idea what is going on, so labelling it a fiasco is highly premature. And what do you mean, no strategy or direction? We may not be able to infer a strategy, and our theories about what is going on may not be to our liking, but that doesn't mean there is no club policy. And I very much doubt we're the laughing stock of European football: nobody is that bothered about us.

It's not really premature anymore when we are 29 days away from the season and we still don't have a new manager.
I haven't checked this but i am fairly sure this is some kind of a record for a top club to leave it so late to get their new man.

We shouldn't be lowering our standards just because the board can't do their job. They are being paid a ton of money to run this club and they are doing a crap job at it at the moment.

Zola's agent :'Zola is out of #Chelsea negotiations, never talked to Chelsea about role in Sarri’s technical staff I can only say that the whole situation is very complicated. I've been reading Sarri to Chelsea is a done deal but as far as I know nothing is happening soon’ #CFC

Like I said, we don't know what's going on, what obstacles are being met, what has already been accomplished without it being made public. All this doesn't mean there is no strategy, it may just be that keeping mum IS part of the chosen strategy.

Why on earth would I, as we don't know anything about "Emanalo's behaviour and Board freezing situation"? What does that even mean?

Yes, but this was at some point a very straightforward situation. Sarri had a low release clause, and Conte's compensation have always been the same.
The club have made a huge mess out of the whole ordeal and we are now so far into overtime with regards to getting our new manager that it will undoubtedly influence our season.

Getting Sarri in two weeks ago was too late, now we are well into july and we are so late it's laughable.

How do you know that?  Are you another one of these genuine club insiders who post in here in great detail about the inner workings of the club, and international contract and transfer negotiations?

• Meetings in Milan yesterday with Napoli lawyers & Sarri, who’ll be free’d from contract. Zola also there.

• Sarri and Zola flying from Milan to London today.

Heard this all before. Let’s see what unfolds today... maybe, just maybe?”

Is it FINALLY happening?!!

It is happening, until it is not happening. In which case, it will be happening, wait... I'm confused what are we talking about again..

Because we have chased Sarri since may mate, and here we are 29(!!) days away from the season and Conte is still the manager.

And we know Sarri had a release clause, confirmed be AdL himself so of that there is no doubt. We also know Conte always had to be paid a compensation if/when we sack him.

If anyone can't admit this is a huge mess and stop defending the board i don't know what to say.

My personal opinion is that it needs to be looked at in context, for example if we had the worst squad in the league and finished 17th then our manager should be considered a bonafide legend at the club (similar to how Huddersfield fans feel about Wagner) but if Sarri came him next season and finished in that position, he would likely pound for pound be our worst manager ever.

I probably did/do mention those two games more than nessesery, but performance wise they weren't one off's, if they were i'd never mention them. I feel we were outplayed in far too many games last season and Conte didn't really try to be more proactive with his tactics or substitutions.

There's a lot of factors when it comes to manager's and it should be more than they finish 4th keep him or 5th sack him, it's not the 5th place finish that was the deal breaker for me.

I'm not defending anybody, I'm repeating ( ad nauseam :laugh2: ) we don't know what's going on, or what is behind the silence from the club. They may hide they don't have anything to announce, there may be a specific reason to stay silent on something that has been accomplished: we. don't. know.
