Next Chelsea Manager

Who would be your choice as Chelsea manager going into next season? 213 members have voted

  1. 1. Here are the current favorites with Conte included. Jody Morris is in there as he is the current youth team manager, and promoting from within seems to have worked for Barca, so why not us?!

Those of you saying it will cost us 20 million quid to sack Conte and his staff and hire Sarri and his staff, who cares? We have to sack Conte and his staff whatever. The point which you're spectacularly missing is that by refusing to pay his release clause, we may end up saving a few pennies, if any, in fact we may just as easily end up paying more. We won't be saving 20 million quid. I hope I've made myself clear.

Some people here seem to think Conte staying for the season would be just fine and that, that might have been the plan all along.
Hazard, Courtois and Willian leaving wouldn't be the end of the world since they would probably leave us at some point anyways and everything would be fine and dandy.

If we ever win the WC, they'll say Tottenham won it, just like they say West Ham won it in 66.

I only have one thing to say. Come on Sweden.

Forget Southgate, seems to me that Steve Holland is the brains of the outfit....

In all seriousness though at what stage does the board switch targets? AdL is a very tough negotiator and with no release clause he can essentially f**k with us for as long as he likes.

My sense is that Sarri isn't worth screwing our entire pre-season for. We should move to other targets soonish.

Or here's another revolutionary thought.... Marina has clearly made a massive  hash of this. Roman should replace her and keep Conte. We should then get rid of the underminers in the squad (Willian, Luiz etc.)

In that solution we'd have a world class and proven manager who would have no personality issues to worry about at the board or playing level. We could then build on our success of the last two seasons and hire a new DoF/GM Football (Andrea Berta from Atletico would be my favourite) and move on to the market with confidence and direction.

Can't see roman getting rid marina. She has been working with him for years.

Tongue firmly planted in cheek when I posted that, but a man can dream right?

All sorts of stories popping up in Italy that the manner we have approached the deal is a big part of the problem. Plenty of them identifying Marina as central to that.

Truth is if we wanted him we should have paid the (very reasonable) clause a month ago.  Now we are in a mess and a half.

I can't help but think that Marina is trying as much to prove herself as a woman in a man's world rather then doing what's best for the club. I don't understand her inability to strike a deal without dragging it out over pennies and pissing off the other negotiators.

Sexist nonsense.

Seems the easiest way at this point.

Bring in Zola and keep Conte for the season with agreement for Sarri to take over next season. (His release clause renews at the end of July I believe so he'd start next June after an 11 month holiday)

The team could be more gradually altered, the want aways offloaded or galvanized knowing Conte is gone soon. Any new signings would have time to adjust to the league and Sarri could hit the ground running with a full preseason to make the transition.

Can people please stop posting 'keep Conte' my Breakfast keeps re-appearing everytime you do.

If we end up losing four first team players like Courtois, Haz, Kante and Willian we are in a truly awful position and with a manager who doesn't care where we finish. He has to go no matter what. World Class manager my arse.

Have you got a link to any of these stories?!

People need to remember. Marina is Romans mouthpiece. She isn't some rogue who does what she wants, badly.

If the deal isn't getting done, it's because Roman doesn't want to pay the dollar. Nothing to do with Marina.

I love how folk go on & on about "IF Conte stays we will lose Courtois, Hazard, Kante and Willian as if a new manager would guarantee all 4 staying!!

Courtois is likely to leave whoever the manager is as he's missing his kids and wants to play for Real Madrid. Willian - who gives a f**k if we get £50+M for him when he turns up for a few games a a season. There is no evidence that Kante will leave - he is happy and he isn't going anywhere. That just leaves our most prized asset who I am sure the club will do all they can to keep unless we get a ridiculous offer in from Madrid. But again, he is 27 and he might just feel the time is right for a move and it doesn't matter who the manager is.

And Conte isn't a top manafer but Sarri is? Laughable.

Conte, played the game for top sides and has gone on to manage (amongst others) Juve, Italy and Chelsea. Won LOADS and still only 48.

Sarri, never played the game. Up until Napoli has managed teams very few will have heard of. Is 59 and has won absolutely f**k All. Oh, but I forget..........his teams play some lovely football.

I suggest keeping this post as a summary of the 106 previous pages, delete everything else and lock the thread for now.

Basically this thread captures the modern fans lust for the next shiney thing because they're bored of their current shiney thing, it's incredibly tedious.

Yeah suffer without the ball indeed is the current shiney thing. Aswell the 3-0 loss vs Newcastle, 4-1 vs Watford etc etc. Oh and its really shiney to watch every pressconf. from our shiney Conte. The relationship between the board and Conte seems really shiney too.

Pretty f**king useless to me then, haven't heard a word from her.

This could then be pinned to the top of the forum for us to all look at as the fourth Watford goal goes in again or Fulham roll us at the bridge to complete a league double over us.
