Stumbled across on this on MSM news:

Les Ferdinand on trying to get a move to UTD from QPR and Ray Wilkins was giving mixed advice and some life lessons.

Interesting reading this as you then understand why things are not always straightforward.

He also talks about how Keegan's outburst of 'I'll love it if we beat Utd' motivated the team.

I forgot the link

It's the way he falls down, like some sh*t actor trying a dramatic fall.

They really need a change to the rules for a penalty. Nobody should get a penalty just by the slightest tug or touch. None of these moments actually stopped Salah from doing what he wanted to do, he wasn't impeded, he's just falling to the ground because he is feeling contact.

Modern day pundits aren't helping either. They all played through this period where players got penalties for the slightest touch, so to them they think it's a penalty, but it isn't.

Another one that bugs me is players sticking their legs out to force contact. I hate it when people say "the defender shouldn't hang his leg out like that", that's a crap excuse. If it doesn't actually impede the attacker, then it shouldn't matter. If the attacker forces the contact by kicking the defender's leg, then he is the one committing the foul.

I especially like the way he's pulled back yet somehow, incredibly manages to defy the laws of physics by launching himself forwards. Amazing.

Studs up, both feet in the air, and catching the player fully on the ankle..... get the ball or not that's a red according the the modern mandate..... the only thing that would change that equation is which club does the tackler player for or which club does the player receiving it play for.

Kompany and VvD both got away with challenges like that in the past few weeks.

If Broly is a red card challenge, why isn't this a red card challenge?

:huh2:

You'll have to refer to my post where referees seem to have been told that they have to consider the club of the player committing the offence and the club of the player being offended.... it's the same with penalties too.

this was the match last season at The Bridge - nothing was given either & like Martin Tyler said, 'lucky Hazard's leg wasn't planted because it would have been broken'

Going to be a plethora of red cards next season with VAR on the case, iv'e seen at least 3 reds missed this weekend in the prem. Probably involves us getting the most though.

I've been thinking about rival team's players and from our point of view and even oppo fans' as well. That each team no matter how much you hate them have a very humble and likeable player. With us it's N'golo, with City it's David Silva, with Spurs it's Eriksson, with Utd it's Mata, with Arsenal... maybe Mkhitaryan, I guess.

But Liverpool? Couldn't think of one. They really are detestable arent they?

David Silva is top quality as a midfielder, but likeability is not one of his characteristics.

Let's also hope Sarri gets coverage questioning VAR like he did recently, Clattenburg came out and supported his view. There are several view settings on VAR not quite as straightforward as we were led to believe.

not here in the States - a few pundits thought it was Chelsea abusing the technology to gain an advantage

Clattenburg in the papers explained the available views saying they were only using some and they needed to use others for off-sides otherwise likely to get wrong decisions. He added that might take more time.

check these guys out

Interesting clip just a pity the punters were unaware of the previous and recent off-sides against Giroud though suspect that was the league rather than the Cup yet they might understand why Chelsea would look to check for themselves.

If I recall the Giroud one, like Kane his feet were onside though he was leaning forward.
