Clearlake are investing in the Oracle, and providing them business within the other companies Clearlake has a foothold in. In return the orcale will sponsor us for this season.

And none of that surprises me.

This is obviously what they meant when they said we were so far behind when it comes to marketing and the commercial side of the game. All part of their big master plan.....like the stadium all fans can be proud of. I remember that one as well. Clowns

The 16th wealthiest company in the world (and by orders of magnitude, the wealthiest single sponsor in football) didn't want to pay 60m to meet BlueCo's valuation.

Quality work yet again.

I don't get this logic, as if somehow the club's prospects are magically divorced from success these days. This is a perspective that is severed from reality. We have had to make unprecedented, emergency asset sales just to remain functional thanks to sporting sanctions and non-compliance with spending rules, which are entirely of our own making thanks to profligate spending and poor performance and governance limiting our ability to raise revenue. No trophies, no sponsors = no money. That is reality whether Abramovich owned the club or Blueco owns it.

The CWC was a lucky boon, given it wasn't even announced until after the club had been acquired. The only reason we are in any sort of financial normalcy is because we made that tournament (winning was a bonus).

The player examples you gave are not great ones because we did end up selling them easily (well except Ziyech, but that was on BlueCo), all at a book profit too. We also somehow profited on the likes of Morata and Costa even though they were openly considered surplus. The club has long had a policy of limiting contracts to 29+ year old players, and buying <24 to maintain resale value.

Signing young player, limited contract for 30+ player is normal. Everyone is doing that.

The one that make blue co strategy unique is that there is clear focus on spreadsheet vs how the player will improve the team.

Tweaked that for you Bob.

So, BlueCo's "unique strategy is .....

"There's a clear focus on the spreadsheet v how the player will improve the team " ??

Doesn't every club consider the size of the fee and how a player will improve the team before buying him ? . I'm not sure that the inclusion of a spreadsheet makes our strategy " unique"

You have 50 m budget and there is a st spot open in our team, who will blue co sign?

D Costa 27 50 m

Delap 22 30 m

It is easy pick, Delap everytime. Is it player quality? Is it how the player improve the team, nope that is secondary. Which player have bigger chance to retain or increase his value is 3/4 years time?

This is true, but in reality BlueCo would preferentially sign a left-winger, A. N. Other, 17, 70m

I must apologise. I thought you were in favour of our transfer policy, but as you point out the obvious disastrous decision making for the football team , I can see can't be supportive of it 👍

Looks like we did our asset selling to ourselves in the nick of time !!

Premier League clubs will no longer be able to sell assets like hotels and women's teams to themselves from next season to get round new financial rules.

It comes after clubs narrowly voted through a new system of Financial Fair Play (FFP) based on squad costs on Friday.

The clubs met in London to vote on three possible methods of replacing Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).

We’re probably in more danger now, as at least with PSR there were creative ways around it (maybe a few more left, who knows), we’ve already been fined by UEFA for the squad cost system, and despite the new premier league rules being 85% with allowances, the Champions league is 70%, so the PL one can basically be ignored, as we have to aim for 70% regardless. For which, we already failed, and that was when is was 80% btw.

Interesting times ahead..

Very interesting times. Makes it crazier they keep dragging the FOS sponsor. I don’t think they have grown our commercial revenue, which was something they claimed Roman was failing at. I also don’t think the new stadium situation can be ignored any longer. Spurs are closing in real fast, and might exceed our revenues at the end of this year.

Tottenham have generated more commercial revenue than us for the last 3 years. Matchday even longer.

We are in financial terms, the 3rd biggest team in London.

I guess that means we are behind Arsenal and Spurs and better than say, Palace, Brentford, Fulham, West Ham ? .

If so, it's not really anything special ??

Even if we ever get a new stadium, we will have to rely on our current stadium income for many many years to come. .

The "big 6" clubs are clear of the rest. We are 6th of those.

7th is Newcastle. There is a crystal palace sized revenue gap between us and Newcastle.

Numbers need context.

Despite Spurs's gazillion-pound stadium debt, they have only generated a grand total of £6m, £19m, and £35m more commercial revenue than us in each of the last 3 years, and despite having three of their best commercial seasons compared to three of our worst.
