what happened to Madrid? the kid really reminds me of a young Courtois at Genk, same sort saves that he pulls off

he could just as well stay for one more season in Chicago

then he can be loaned out to a team in Europe

did the US qualify for the world cup? maybe he can go with them as a third goalkeeper

We did qualify,

His time will likely come but we have a good long list of experienced keepers right now.

Steffen and Horvath aren't regular starters and especially Steffen is really overrated imo, and Matt Turner will go to Arsenal so he won't be playing either

From what i've seen from Slonina he has good reflexes but poor technique/handling and drops the ball a lot into dangerous areas

The lack of play time is a concern however Turner has looked good and Steffen has been solid.  Horvath seems to have dropped down the list as he hasn't gotten a call up since the Nation's League final despite some heroic saves.

Sean Johnson has looked good recently.   Had some big saves in a friendly against Uruguay.

It was kind of disappointing to me that Steffen re-upped with Man City rather than looking for a place where he can start.

Multiple sources are reporting that Chelsea has reached a verbal agreement for this kid.  Probably will be loaned straight back to his current club to get experience.

We've got so many goal keepers already that frankly I'm gobsmacked we are looking at another one ...

In the USA Tour party : Edouard Mendy, Kepa Arrizabalaga, Marcus Bettinelli, Teddy Sharman-Lowe

Development Squads : Eddie Beach, Sami Tlemcani

Out on Loan for 22/23: Lucas Bergstrom, Ethan Wady, Nathan Baxter, Jamie Cumming, Prince Adegoke

If we sign him, Slonina would be the  12th keeper on our books !!!

The Courtois/Kepa panic lives on, out of the young kids surely one should be able to step up to our first team  :laugh2:

Hey @HazardousChoice maybe this guy could be our franchise American player you speak of in other threads, footballs Michael Jordan. Or does him being a keeper rule that out?

I haven't seen him play.

Are we signing him because of his talent or as our next token American?

Either way If it means the swift exit of our current Token American I'd welcome Slonina with open arms.

If he replaces Kepa then it's 2 birds with one stone.

I feel good about this signing. Or at least as good as one can feel with signing a teenage goal keeper a week before the season while our squad is riddled with holes.

And there's a big gap in the market for player endorsed goal keeper gloves.

Does he have a huge nose and supports Real Madrid too?

No. Lives only 3 hours from me which is mad.

One of those lads that just cares about playing footy above watching footy so he has no affiliation to any European club.

So we can expect him to scarper quick if he does not dislodge Mendy as number 1 then?

Our American fans, @USATim, @Valpo and the rest of you, what you think of this kid?

Love him. Our next huge goalkeeper. Won't factor in this cycle but will be the starter for us come next WC. Coming from MLS, he will need to work on his passing / footwork with the ball. Other than that, he is dynamic. Think he is definitely the most talented GK we have had at this young of an age come out of the US.
