PSG are supposedly interested now, and have the funds to meet the asking price.

Just seen that myself Forbzy. They are trying to "Barca" us.

I can see a scenario where they buy Fofana and we go back in for Kimpembe or another one of their defenders.

I'm hoping we don't go over £80 milion.  Not because of the cost, but because I still want Harry 'Slab head' Maguire to continue being the most expense centre back of all time, forever.  Mainly for sh*ts and giggles.

PSGs interest may be geninue, in which case will be a matter of money vs sporting ambition for him, or it could be made up by Leicester to get us to agree to their price.

he has already been in ligue 1

he probably knows by now that it's a laughable level compared to the PL

he said he wanted to become the best player in his position, you don't become that in a farmers league

Few reports our third offer to Leicester is coming over the next few days, and that Leicester will reject it regardless of the amount as they are determined not to let him or Maddison leave.

Sky Sports mention we have a back up list if this happens, thought they don't mention any names.

No way Leicester turn down our final bid. They would be insane to lose out on that money.

Most reports say they will. With him on a 5 year deal they can keep him for 3 more seasons and still sell at a high price later. Higher possibly if he has become one of the world's elite defenders.

Fair but you also wouldn't want to keep a player that wants out in your team

you dont become the worlds elite defender at Leicester. You have to play CL for that. They won't get more than 80 million for him. Besides he would miss out on the best possible mentorship with Thiago SIlva and Koulibaly at the club who both speak his native language French.

maybe Madrid can pay that amount of money but i don't think they will considering that they aren't in the best financial position and will have to replace Benzema and Modric by that time

Bayern don't need a CB, they have De Ligt

Maybe Liverpool and City but that's basically it. And City will most likely get Gvardiol instead of Fofana anyway

even if Leicester get into the CL groups phase if they keep Fofana by some miracle. That's less money you rake in than the 80 million for Fofana. And by playing Fofana you leave a spot occupied for another young defender you could sell for profit if you develop him into a great PL player.

True however he is not behaving in a manner to force the issue. A few cryptic social media posts don't do that.

Take Cucurella for example. Handed in a transfer request so forgoes his loyalty payment and makes it publicly clear he does not want to stay and wants to move to City or us.

Fofana has done none of that, started and played well for Leicester on the weekend. He is doing nothing to make Leicester need to sell him.

I think he will stay there for now, unless Leicester receive an offer that they feel they cannot possibly refuse. As much as we want the player I am not sure we will be willing to bid much more than we supposedly have already. So it is very possible we have already moved on to other options for now. Perhaps we will return to Fofana another window.

The situation would have to change "dramatically" in order for Fofana to.move here:

https://weaintgotnohistory.sbnation.com/chelsea-fc-transfer-rumours-news/2022/8/9/23298527/wesley-fofana-move-to-chelsea-would-require-dramatic-change-report

This one ain't happening guys and gals no matter how much we offer, even at 100 mill. Only way it changes is if Fofana forces the sale, transfer request, goes on strike etc. I don't see him doing so, so time to move on.

In comparison with Fofana the alternatives are a bit bleak

I recall us being linked with Adam Webster from Brighton after he scored against us. Could be fun to deal with Brighton again no? Lol
