Been the constant price tag, 85mill, since we were first linked. I don't see Leicester selling him this window.

The most stupid thing is where Leicester sit they need to improve their squad, £80 mill will certainly help their cause.  I think they are cutting their nose to spite their face; they aren't going to win anything this year and the best they can hope for is a mid-table finish at best.  We have a myriad of deadwood in positions that would be good enough for their squad.  Assuming that Leicester are going to play the same way when Vardy slows down Broja would suit them, TBH I thought Werner might have been offered up, even Ziyech or Pulisic but I guess wages might have put them off.

Hold on are you suggesting we offer Broja plus cash for Fofana? C’mon now, I can understand offering them a Barkley, RLC, Kenedy or Emerson, but Broja shouldn’t be an option at all.

Hopefully we have already started looking at to new targets, even while we contemplated bigger bids for Fofana. I can see us trying again for him in future if he continues to impress. Thiago probably only has another year or so and he will also need replacing.

This should be Thiago’s last season. You can’t keep playing a 38yr old defender in a system that protects him & keep benching Chalobah. We will never know how good Chalobah could be with him sat on the bench.

This just looks like lukaku all over again. We fail to scout players and just end up buying the expensive ones. For 80 million we could  buy  3 quality defenders if only we had a good scouting department

you can't compare Fofana to Lukaku 

but you are right with regards to the scouting

we should have gotten him when he was still at Saint Étienne or Saliba who's also looking like a good defender

I agree but Fofana is a good player not a great player and definitely not worth 85 million. Lets not forget that he isn't even the replacement for Silva . He is replacing Christensen and will most likely play RCB. At this point we might as well go buy back Tomori because the difference between both isn't much

Fofana (21) is already on a higher level than Tomori (24) and is 3 years younger

I personally think he's the young defender with the highest ceiling in world football

And at this moment in time he's already a top class defender

Fair enough. I cant say i have watched him especially so i will take your word for it. I guess my issue  with the transfer is the price . Didn't know he was so young though

Just get him. Allows us to play 4 at the back with Koulibaly and finally get an extra attacking player on the pitch. 

City paid £65 million for a 23 year old Dias who'd only played in the Portuguese league.  £50 odd million for Laporte, Liverpool £75m for Van Dijk, Bayern £70 million for De Ligt.  Honestly don't give a damn about the price tag, what matters is if we've scouted the right man.  If he turns out to be a superstar no-one will mention his price like they don't mention Van Dijk or Dias' and it will be a badge of honour to be the most expensive defender.  I think us fans are mainly worried if he does fail to live up to expectations we will have a similar Maguire £80 million mentioned every week scenario, and the stigma that comes with it.

we might have given up on fofana and the odds may be low but touchel hasn't given up, nor on Auba in my opinion listening to the presser. that doesn't mean I think they are coming but the fat lady has not yet sung.

It's not as simple as that. Remember the "cheaper" option we could have had instead of Chilwell? He's just been banished from Tottenham's first team squad.

I do wonder why reguillon has fallen so quickly out of favour. He looked decent for a good while after signing.

We've generally done alright when splashing the cash to sign defenders.

Of the 10 defenders below (I'm ignoring Cuadrado because he was a winger when we signed him), only Baba and Zappa have been poor buys.

Obviously early days on Koulibaly and Cucurella, but so far so good !

Well if what I have just read on Twatter is true we've just paid 95 million Euros for him..outrageous if true.   Broja + cash (depending how much but certainly no more than £10-20 mill) Why wouldn't you and throw in a first refusal should Leicester decide to sell him later...but if they did sell him later it would mean he wasn't much cop anyway.   I hear Vardy signed a new contract to take him to 55, so Broja wasn't on their radar anyway
