Nothing to suggest this is happening. Good attempts but Leicester made their decision long ago.

I'm still on the fence about Fofana, I just think he has so little experience in the game to be so sure that he is going to rise to the very top, but many seem to think he is going to be one of the very best..........but £80m! That is such a massive gamble, even if we are desperately in need of another CB.

Like De Ligt and Kounde, it's because he's actually good at tackling for a modern centre-back.

I like him, but I share your skepticism as well. It's deals like this for Samuel Umtiti, Clement Lenglet etc. that landed Barcelona in trouble. Boehly's anxiety to get deals closed by offering over market price will bite us in the long-term.

Chelsea also still pushing for Fofana. Third bid not going to be a world record fee. #CFC still hoping for under £80m and to have more meaningful verbal talks. First two bids near-instantly rejected. Boehly keen for more of a back and forth to work out Leicester’s true stance.

Lot of excitement around Fofana because he wants the move. And Chelsea aren’t giving up. But Leicester planning to play Fofana against Arsenal. Things could change fast, but as of now FDJ (from a club to club perspective) is more advanced.

And another reminder: if Chelsea succeed with Fofana, the structure will be as important as the number. That’s why Boehly wants significant verbal talks, to engage and discuss rather than ‘blind’ bid. This allows Chelsea to speed up a sale. #LCFC still reluctant.

What i hope is that if we don’t get him this season we will keep in contact and get him next season.

we should not make the same mistake as Koundé. It should be crystal clear he is our #1 target and should remain our #1 target. I don’t like the idea of spending a bunch of money on an inferior alternative.

we could get by with Thiago Silva, Koulibaly, Chalobah, Cucurella, Azpi, Chilwell, Emerson and possibly even De Jong as cb options

absolutely. rather wait for the right guy than get a 'Pavard' for example. if we sign a back up RWB Reece James can always fill in too.

as I said on another thread, same applies to attackers. rather we didn't bother with Zaha and the likes - let's wait until we have a Director of Football in and make proper long term plans!

If Leicester have indeed not been wiling to have back and forth with us then that should tell Todd all he needs to know about whether they are willing to sell Fofana or not as these two "blind bids" were instantly rejected.

Just wasting time and letting the rest of the market know that we are getting desparate. Excellent potential but not yet a great player. Its not goign to happen so let's move on. If they want to faff about move on quickly and get someone in now. We are not building the harlem globetrotters here. We should be able to pinpoint available centrebacks that are of sufficent quality that they will fit in with TT's style and plans for the future. If Fofana is the only guy that fits this profile then surely we have a bigger and quite different problem.

Sky Sports are one of the few still claiming a bid of 80mill will be accepted by Leicester.

Several other sources say he is not for sale and even an amount much greater than 80mill would be instantly turned down like the first two bids

Sky sports agenda so that they can have the shock horror news when it all goes t*ts, when they create the scenario in the first place. How else are they going to pay that Melissa Reddy as well as the other two clowns they have taht are "in the know"

Taken from Sky sports:

"

Brendan Rodgers has said he's not aware of any new offer from Chelsea for defender Wesley Fofana

The Foxes have already rejected two bids from Chelsea.

“We’re not looking to sell. That’s the key point. He's a top young defender and there are not many about at his age," said Rodgers.

"Another year at Leicester would be great for his development. He’s just getting on with his work and training well.""

As we said, never happening. Time to move on

I just don't see this one going through, not this season.

It's very similar to when City wanted Mahrez and we wanted Chilwell. City had to wait one more season and we had to wait one season too. Leicester aren't budging.

But iif the purse strings have been loosened to the extent of 8om, surely this opens up pretty much the whole of Europe for a CB. No way is that Gvardiol fella worth £80m and surely a number big enough would prise him away from Leipzig, for example

I wouldn't be surprised if Leicester settle for less next season. I just don't think they want to sell at any price right now. They need Fofana if they want to challenge for a European spot again.

That's what I believe too Scott. Though I would be interested to see what happens if we did put down an offer of 85mill for him. Would Fofana happily just accept that being rejected with him having a verbal agreement he can join a CL club?

Frustratingly, i don't even see Rodgers beign there for the whole season. I think he knows he has pretty much run his course with them and his stock will strat to drop again soon. Not sure of his next stop. Many Manyoo if teh Ten Hag things goes t*ts. I would just be surprised if he lasted the full season, so let us have Fofana now...you sod

In for a penny in for a pound as they say. We did not let an extra 10mill stop us signing Cucurella. So if we have made two bids already, the latter just over 70mill apparently, why not add that bit extra with add ons and offer 85mill? See what Leicester and fofana do.

Not saying he is anywhere near worth that, nor did I think Cucurella was his fee either, but still if the owners want to pay it and have a plan money wise to deal with this then why not.

We did just get 20mill for Werner too.

Didn't they supposedly want CHO? Let him go there on loan as part of the deal.

Apparently RLC as well. Exchange one, loan the other. But apparently Leicester are serious that he is not for sale.
