Wesley Fofana at Chelsea *Official*

They apparently paid up to £36.5 million for him, and if/when they sell him on, Saint-Étienne get a 20% sell on fee.

Given how good he's been, you'd think they'd want to at least double their money before even considering to sell. That's £73 million. Another 20% on top of that.. 87 odd million. They would probably want £80-90 million for him.

Maybe we could get away with 70 plus add-ons.. it's a lot of money.

Suppose if we do pay it and it doesn't work out, we could always loan him to Inter Milan!

Just do a barca, turn his head with big wage offers and the chance to be around silverware on the regular and leicester wont want to keep an expensive asset that doesnt want to be there

Keeping players that want to move never pans out which is why we sack anyone off who wants out (if we/agents can find them a home)

Otherwise performance drops interest drys up and values decrease, If we don't get him someone else soon will

You just know that if we did the same as Barcelona we would get charged with tapping up the player.

Been scavenging through some Leicester forums and rumors Fofana apparently has agreed personal terms with us but Leicester rejected our initial offer/valuation of the player.

“Fofana has indicated he would like a chance to discuss the move if CFC make a suitable bid. Leicester want £75m+ add ons.”

Am sure given he is settler in England and a Chelsea fan he would find it very easy to agree terms.

Am also sure he won't kick up any fuss of the foxes refuse to sell given they stood by him and took care of him during his broken leg recovery.

I think TT has made it clear he is desperate for more defensive reinforcements.

That did not work for him last summer as he did not get any players he asked for and now money is tighter and Todd has to answer to Clearlake and other investors so if they say "sorry everyone is pricing still at Roman levels and we are not spending big money no matter how much lukaku cost" then TT goes with what he has, like it or lump it.

No way I see us paying that. That is Roman level spending.

That is the price I would expect though, based on his contract status. Maybe we can negotiate down a little but not much. If we really want him we will have to pay a big price.

Agreed. Other sources say Leicester won't sell period:

“it appears Chelsea will fail in any bid to sign Fofana [...] Leicester will not entertain a bid and the player will not push for a move this summer.”

They might change their mind if Barca come calling though 🤔

I am sure Leicester would consider if offered the right price, but that would likely be crazy money.

Probably but we are a business now, the days off us paying crazy fees are gone I think.

£50M is the new 30M 75M is like what 55M

Inflation and mental prices from all sorts of clubs over past 5 years makes £75 not look too bad esp for a potentially world class 21yr old defender we can pin down on a long contract..

Is not awful no but I stand by what I said, no way Todd gets approval to spend that on 1 player when he spent the same on 2, one of which is a world class center back.

Someone will be filling in the risk assesments!

buy another defender and a forward plus a mid if pos and potentially win it all OR don't and hope for top 4 and average turnovers

All roads lead to turno spending babbyyy

I think they will spend if they think its necessary. Its not just Boehly involved in negotiations, Eghbali is at these negotiations and meetings with him, and he is ceo at clearlake. Also Eghbali is a massive football fan, and knows the sport. We wouldve spent £110m on Raphinha and Kounde, on top of the £80m already spent, if not for Barcelona.

£190m, without recouping anything significant in sales, and with taking a massive hit on Lukaku, and possibly Werner, Ziyech, and Kepa.

That wouldve been 4, out of a touted 6 signings.

Money isnt an issue, at least this summer anyway, however I dont see us spending £70m on Fofana, because in all honesty, as good as he is, he isnt worth it.

I am not convinced mate. Eghbali may well be a big football fan and high up at Clearlake but, at the end of the day, hedge funds are there to make money.

What am I missing with Fofana? He was injured for pretty much all of last season and I don't think he was that great before that.

Genuine question, is there anyone you do like? You seem to be the opposite of excited about every player we show interest in.

seems like we at last found someone who actually wants to play for us!

Define “just”.

Like, started following them today? This week? Last year?

Would seriously go mental if this happens.

Is one of my well used jokes that Scott hates everybody. I guess I am not the only one to point that out now lol 😉

Probably Leicester told him after paying him for a year and rehabbing his broken leg he aint going nowhere so sit down and shut up.

Kounde, De Ligt, Gvardiol, Bissouma, Perisic, Eriksen, De Jong, Tchoumeni, Nkunku, Lewandowski, and I wasn't against signing Koulibaly or even Sterling, two players I have been critical of in the past.

Raphinha I didn't care either way, and I am not sure on Kimpembe either.

Dembele, Neymar, Ronaldo, Richarlison and Ake are the only ones I have been really against us signing. I wasn't too keen on Jesus either.
