Sun claims we have agreed terms with Fofana bit Leicester have turned down our offer, bit like Ake I guess then. Though why did Leicester let us talk to him if they don't want to sell? Probably sun BS

Apparently we do everything except get the signing. Waiting for his head to be turned by Derby and Charlton.

This makes little sense. Leicester must have sanctioned us talking to him or else this is blatant tapping up. If he has agreed terms and they let him talk to us, then they must be up for selling. If the price is ridiculously high then its not just us they are messing about with but more importantly its their own players.

I don't think 'tapping up' is as much as an issue as it used to be. I think it's more common practice for clubs now to put the feelers out to a player/ agent and see if they would be willing to join, and then if the feedback is positive that's when the clubs will begin negotiating with eachother.

I could be wrong on that but I think that's how the majority of business is done these days.

Really hope I am wrong and we are willing to make a big deal to get him, and Kilman too.

Fofana

Silva/Koulibaly

Koulibaly/Kilman

Is a solid, physical and skillful back 3 with leadership.

Fofana trumps all the other centre-backs we have been linked with this window IMO. His potential ceiling is so high. Has the lot. Strong, quick, great reader of play, brave, good in the air and a leader.

The only question mark is the broken leg he suffered last year and the 7 months out to heal and recover, but since his return he has looked the same top quality player as he was before.

Leicester would want massive money. We shouldn't blink at that. He is only 21, proven in the EPL and could be a mainstay of our team for the next 10 years.

I'm concerned about the broken leg he suffered, that kind of thing never really heals. For that reason I think Leicester would sell him if we put in a serious bid, then it's a risk we will manage for the next few years.

It was a bad break, but I’d almost be more concerned with Chillwell, bad tendon or ligament injuries tend to be worse.

ACL and achilles tendon injuries are the worst, they can completely ruin a footballer. We have had players and have players in the squad that never recovered from those injuries. Essien and Cole were never the same after their ACL injuries and Hudson-Odoi and Loftus-Cheek have never really gotten over their achilles tendon injuries.

A clean break isn't that much to worry about strangely, it's easily operated on and rarely has any long term problems. As others have said stress injuries are much more worrying.

@LongtimerLurker come on down!

No idea mate, from the way things were shaping up it seemed Leicester had 0 interest in selling him. If he pushes for a move though then that could be a different story, but I think he's currently settled. Would be really weird if he did do that though.

I know his friend posted something, but that could have been his friend just messing about looking to make some noise where there isn't any.

Just glad the Ake link is over, he is abysmal.

The Alexander-Arnold goal would have been prevented if he was 3 inches taller. A few of us have been making the point repeatedly that height is a real asset for a modern centre  back, and the likes of Ake and Kounde are too damn short, regardless of any athletic "leap" they may have ...

Aaron Ramsay is the poster child for coming back well from a leg break ... horrific one that was, as well.

Yeah, good shout. I've had a few mates break their leg playing football, both clean breaks and both had no problems.

I've also had 2 mates with fairly innocuous ankle injuries that ruined them unfortunately.

A broken leg is a freak accident, I wouldn't be worrying too much about it.

I was at that game (Villarreal pre-season about this time last year) - a 'questionable' tackle (especially considering it was a friendly) to say the least!
