Wesley Fofana at Chelsea *Official*

Take from Skysportsnews

Leicester do not want to sell Wesley Fofana - but Sky Sports News understands they will not stand in his way if a Champions League club make an acceptable offer and he is determined to leave.

Chelsea are interested in signing the 21-year-old and considering making a bid as they look to sign a new centre-back.

Leicester, however, have not put an exact figure on Fofana's valuation.

Rodgers reflected the club's position that Fofana is "not for sale" after they beat Sevilla 1-0 in their final friendly of the season on Sunday.

"Naturally, he's a top talent," Rodgers said. "He still has lots of improvements to make. He's very happy here, he really enjoys being here.

"Naturally, he will attract the interest of other clubs. Our job, in not signing anyone so far, is to at least keep the players we have. I know that's the intention of the club."

Fofana made a cryptic social media post on Instagram on Wednesday with a caption in French that translates as: "My father told me you're going to annoy a lot of people when you start doing what's best for you and I've begun to realise it."

He has also removed references to Leicester from his Twitter biography."

As expected really. Make Leicester a big enough offer and they will sell. I reckon 65mill to 70mill and RLC gets it done.

It would be a bit sh*tty on Leicester if we don't bid high enough for him now, as we've basically unsettled him enough to the point where his mind is with us.

Guessing this one will drag out a little longer than some of our other targets.

So this is the normal all smoke no fire discussion.

So far yes there is nothing solid, not statements from the club. Not much from the Twitter ITKs.

The guys on sky Sports discussed how things have changed today with Fofana deleting Leicester City from his social media and sharing images and quotes that he wants to go. Nothing obvious as "let me join Chelsea".

I think the opposite. Nobody wants this to drag on. Not Fofana, Not Leicester, Not Brendan and not us.

If the foxes are getting 70mill or more they will want time to invest in the sqaud this window. Not bank it on the last day, they have yet to sign anyone and probably want to replace Kasper.

Sometimes clubs want time to find a replacement as well which can drag things out. I doubt Leicester will want to go shopping with £80m on display.

Yeah but I think selling clubs will figure out if Leicester come for their centerbacks.

Club never learns, 71 mill Kepa, 80 mill Havettz, 97 mill Lukaku, 85 mill for this lad is silly money even if he is a prospect.

Difference is Fofana has already played 2 seasons or so in the PL and looks solid. Liverpool bought Van Dijk for £75M and that has been money well spent. Silva is 37. Koulibaly is 31. So they both will need replacing. Fofana is a very good CB and has it all at 21 so this a short term investment as well as long term investment if he to sign, so yeah I get it, especially as he could be in our defence for the next plus decade.

He's played 1 season in the Premier League, last season he got injured and missed pretty much all of it. He's only played 55 league games in his entire career to date. However good he has been at this point, it will be a massive gamble to pay the amount of money Leicester will want for him.

This is as much of a gamble as it was signing Kepa and Havertz. Two young players with potential being bought for massive amounts of money. It's probably more of a gamble because both Kepa and Havertz were more experienced.

It's a big gamble, it's more like a gamble Roman would take than Boehly. Havertz was the best young player out of Germany when we signed him, he's already had 2 full seasons with impressive stats, and capped. I don't think we could say the same about Fofana. With a 80M price tag, there's no place to hide regardless of his age, he has to play every week. Normally, you sign a 21 year old defender and slowly integrate him, no chance when the guy cost 80M

Is it not a bigger gamble to not get a quality Centre Back in?

Not having a good defence is a guarantee of failure. Liverpool and Man C improved out of sight when they bought Van Dijk and Dias respectively. When Van Dijk was injured liver puddle suffered.

A good team starts with a good defence and then adds the glitz.

Leicester reporter 85mill to 90mill price tag is too much for a player fresh off one good PL season and a broken leg. It is a price designed to say "We want him to stay, be sensible, he is not worth this much, go away".

And we should. We got Koulibaly for 33mill, find another short to medium term option in that price range.

I think this entire window has been a clusterf**k from start to finish, with more leaks than the Titanic on who our supposed targets were and then when we approached them got f**ked at every turn, because clearly the players were not truly set on joining us and we were their 2nd or even 3rd choices.  Time pissed down the drain when we should have identified the targets regardless of the sanctions anyway.  I thought Buck (as bad as he may be) was supposed to be hanging around as a consultant, more like a bad smell at this rate.  The entire window so far appears to have been a scatter gun approach in the hope of something sticking, we are all over the map in terms of who the club wants out, which players want out and which players / positions we need to strengthen.   Why are we allegedly going after Forfana for a ridiculous fee and even still pissing around with Brighton who think they are Barcelona ...FFS.

Don't think you can group Kepa in with Fofana and Havertz.

Kepa wasn't showing potential.  He was extremely medicore in Spain which is what makes the transfer so bizarre.

He wasn't some young talented hyped up prospect he was a crappy lower midtable standard keeper who no one wanted for his 18m release clause 6 months before we signed him.
