August 11, 20232 yr It’s still highest bidder wins, Liverpool probably showed their hand and it’s likely big. There’s no player preference anymore I guess. So hold off on calling him average and a waste of money for a few more hours. 😂
August 11, 20232 yr No one is calling him average but he is not £100 million player that’s why city didn’t pay a £100 for Rice. Neither he or Rice are worth anywhere near that much. I trust the team who are recruiting our players now more than twitter stats men and women!!
August 11, 20232 yr Pretty confident he is Liverpool bound. We’ve taken too long which somewhat highlights our uncertainty with the fee. If the team believed he was that good, we’d have done it already. Oh, and you can guarantee if he does join them, and see the pitch Sunday, he’ll score! It’s the Chelsea way! Think we may rue this one, but plenty of other options out there. I’m dry optimistic about Santos long term. Edited August 11, 20232 yr by PhilH930

Over the years I’ve heard……. back in 2001/02 we were robbed paying Lampard £40k a week Also heard that we were shafted signing Drogba for £26m in 2004 on the other hand we have the £98m Lukaku disaster, Bakayoko and Torres transfer fee debates too. To be fair nobody knows how this transfer would work out at £100m, but I do know our midfield isn’t good enough for the upcoming season. We need him or another starting level DM. Maybe need to start testing if Madrid need money……
August 11, 20232 yr 110m from Liverpool. Ooooof…. I guess that’s that. Edited August 11, 20232 yr by Sheva

We are chelsea and we have spent a ton in the last year and people think Adams is a good option as our starting DM?

While it is ofcourse a very underwhelming signing by comparison many good players have been got by relegated sides. Robertson, Wijnaldium, Joe Cole to name three prominent examples. But yes this is a massive blow no point sugar coating this, was a perfect heir to Kante.

August 11, 20232 yr What a total shambles. We had a clear run at Caicedo for several months and in the end we faffed about for too long. Could likely have wrapped up a deal for 90+10m ages ago. In the end we were just too arrogant and it cost us.

I think we should have walked away at 80m. As good as Caicedo is, there are alternatives that are more realistic and may leave us with some funds to reinforce other areas (e.g. striker or attacking mid). I suspect we will end up with Adams and Lavia as our DM's now

Brighton made it clear all along they were holding out for 100m. 90m + add ons would not have done it.
August 11, 20232 yr £110m for a player with 1 season of top level football under their belt? We offered way more than reasonable, Liverpool have offered an insane amount. We move on and look forward. Don't get caught up in the Twatterati noise. If we'd have signed him he'd probably have torn his ACL on his way out of the press conference anyway.
