Given what’s happening at real, maybe it is time to look at Tchouameni.

I reckon they need to lose one of Tchouameni and Valverde before the window closes.

What’s to stop him from saying he wants to join Chelsea? I mean, does he have no say in the matter? Just because Brighton accepted a higher bid, why is he obliged to go to Liverpool?

He can, but he won't. Big enough a step up for him and doesnt want to go through the whole back and forth again. Wishful thinking.

They need a keeper and are interested in Kepa. Maybe we could use him as part of a deal?

Some are saying Brighton won't accept an offer from us matching Liverpools. They gave their word that the highest bidder wins and the deadline passed with Liverpool on top.

So unless Caicedo really does want us and turns them down is certainly over.

No it's not "telling", his heart was set on Arsenal in January.

Its pretty clear his main focus was getting out of Brighton, he was always pretty 'flexible' with his destination.

Lol....if we were willing to pay 100 mill then we should've bid earlier. It's looks even more stupid to bid that much now that've missed the train. Should've stayed firm and told them that they value him no more than 80 mill. But Boehly and co being the clowns they are panic bid 100 mill now only to be rejected. Congratulations for signing those Ugu-whatevers.

PS: seems brighton knew all along that LFC were coming with that mega bid and maybe the reason why they kept rejecting our bids out of hand.

We bid 100m back in July he’d be a Chelsea player. No idea why we waited until last night after 3 months of “groundwork”.

Sunday will be interesting.

Almost 1 billion spent and Tyler Adams makes our best XI.

Madness.

Who do you feel worst for? Pochettino or Enzo?

Nah. We'll sign some Chucky guy for 30mill but for Tchouameni we'll put in incremental bids for a month before PSG or City come in and pay what Real want.

Probably Lavia the most. Putting so much pressure on a 19 year old who is significantly inferior to Caicedo and isn’t even that great defensively.

If not Lavia I’m looking forward to what significantly inferior alternative this club has in mind.

Yeah we should not sign Lavia. Go with Enzo, Adams and Santos or Gallagher.

Or if Enzo decides he is not happy and wants out after this mess then Carney, Adams and one of Santos or Conor.

I'm somewhat in the same camp with Lavia.  He has quite a loose touch and distribution is not all that.

Missing out on Caceido is a set back.  Fortunately it is an easier position to fill, but he appeared to check all the boxes.

Shame we got rid of Kante. Yeah he was aging and more injury prone, but should have made sure we had a back up for when he left.

The thing is, Caceido may be a very good player but the fee is ludicrous. Surely there are other options on the market that won't cost THAT much.

To be honest we need goalscorers more than anything. Right now we have only Jackson. We need a another good goalscorer.

But how much money can we spend? We have multiple positions to fill. It's  s business at the end of the day, we can't just throw any number at clubs for players.

Moving away from our failure on this. Is rather telling that a player, for months we were told, only wanted Chelsea, heart set on Chelsea, can have a change of heart in hours and be off to Liverpool.

Happened with Mudryk, so not surprised, that's modern football for you

Brighton really played us like fiddle, glad we didn't give them Colwill and hope we don't do business with them in the future.

Totally agree. They have been doing the same now for the last couple of years. We need to stop dealing with them.

The most annoying part is that the narrative will be so different for Liverpool. If we spent that much money and got him people would say he's not worth the money and that Boehly is playing football manager. Watch the media spend the next few weeks calling this a masterclass move by Liverpool.

Is that a real photo? If it is, looks like it's taken close to The London Aquarium. Cab to Euston, train to Lime Street, another cab, and you're at Anfield in less than two hours forty-five minutes.

If caicedo is as good as his price tag then pool will be competing for the title for years to come. Credit to them for being clear in their valuation and doing the deal in a day. It seems our recruitment team are not sure in their valuation of players. We've only bid 100 mill once pool put in their bid. It's as if we were seeking validation from outside to confirm if caicedo is truly worth a 100 mill. But the humiliation is now complete with brighton getting the bid they wanted and now rejecting it.

I am just waiting to see if caicedo is truly the player everyone thinks he is. Don't remember a brighton player succeeding outside that club. Pool have basically bought their midfield and want to build around it.

We're pretty good at paying 60 mill for inferior players.
