Benoît Badiashile joins Chelsea

Yeah he certainly showed what we were missing yesterday...

I am not sure if this is sarcasm, but apart from the goal where he lost concentration, he had a really good game. Baring in mind, he had no proper pre-season and got injured when he arrived at Palace, he has not had much time to settle in. He was solid.

If badiashile or Disasi put that performance in for us they'd have been slagged off to high heaven. I don't rate any of the three but we need to stop pretending that Chalobah is a big upgrade, there's a reason why he was on the market for £25m and nobody went near him.

Did you watch the game? I actually did. He made a mistake for the goal, other than that he was good. Glasner himself was happy with his performance. Apart from the goal what did he do wrong?

It's so bizzare when Chalobah gets brought up in Badiashille conversations.

They played on different sides to the defense at Chelsea, Badiashille/Chalobah is every bit as a pointless and irrelevant comparison as Felix/Chalobah is, they have no relation to eachother stall.

Trev played 10 times as a centre back last season and 5 of those were on the left. Small sample admittedly ...

One hell of a reach. CB's can often play on either side without much drop in their performance. That's like saying Dave could never play LB because he was a RB. Even easier at CB.

A CB compared to an attacking mid is nothing similar.

Weird comment.

Showed plenty more than Badiashile in a Chelsea shirt.

Debatable, either way neither of them are up to the standard we need, I have no idea why this debate keeps getting brought up.

I watched the first half so didn't get to see the whole thing, but when he's at fault for the goal and they lost 1-0 it's not exactly a glowing debut is it. I think my question is do people actually think chalobah is good or is it just a case of you think he's less sh*t than Badiashile?

I have never come and criticized Badiashile on here tbh. Not once. I think he is a good defender. I always liked Chalobah and also think he could do a good job playing RB as well. Badiashile started well here tbh then after made a few mistakes. Chalobah is more suited to a back 3 but last season when he stepped in for us at CB he did well and at RB too. But as mentioned baring in mind he has not had much of a pre-season and come back from a recent injury, I thought he had a very solid game and think he will be a stellar signing for Palace.

Because one cost us £40m, while the other one would have cost us nothing as a squad option.

But at this point what does it matter? A player not good enough cost £40m and a player not good enough that came from the academy, the end result is we've got some crap CBs. As I said before, there's a reason that we had him up for sale for £25m and nobody wanted to pay it.

We'll have to see, best that can happen is that you're right and he ends up having a great season at Palace and increases his value.

Chalobah wasn't crap in a Chelsea shirt, he was the perfect squad player.

We spent double to downgrade.

Hope this helps.

I thought I read somewhere that there were two or three clubs interested at that price, but Chalobah turned down the moves ?

I recall there being interest from Forest, not sure what they were willing to pay, I think he thought a bigger team would come in but it didn't come to fruition, which is my point.
