But he was impressive wasn't he , we all praised him, go back to around page 8.

Was it after the return from injury that his form disintegrated?

He's nothing like the player he was a year ago

Injury, different manager, who knows? But he was sure as hell a lot better.

He started playing in a high line and got exposed......that's it really.

So basically a lack of pace? Seems to be a common issue with a number of our CB's.

Lack of pace, reaction times, concentration, all of them. Rarely can be taught into defenders, they either have it or they don't.

Lack of awareness, unable to read the situation, and loss of concentrations. Basically everything Thiago had, these guys don't. I don't think pure pace is the answer, if you have to turn back and give the attackers a couple of seconds head start, you got no chance even if you are a sprinter by trade.

Purple patch I’d say , agree he looked impressive but how many games were we judging him off maybe 8-10 ?

Same reason we all thought Mudryk was good based off his debut against Liverpool.

I really don't like him as a player at all, he's just a big lump really.

I don't rate Disasi that highly either but he's got some redeemable qualities. I thought his performances last season were vastly overrated on this forum, @BordeauxBlue was bang on about him from the start.

Hope we can get rid of him quickly. Crying shame it'll be Chalobah going instead of this guy.

Hope he can turn it around.

...

But I doubt it.

Silva was amazing defender but in  Maresca system, silva is not playable.

Not sure what's he current defence system until I see a few more games. If it's just pressing high line to the extreme , very few defenders will have a chance, ruling out both Silva and JT.

A travesty that Chalobah is forced out ahead of Badiashile, a guy that has the reactions of a snail and barely looks interested in being a defender, and Disasi who is celebrating every block against Servette like it's the Champions League final.

Welcome to PSR-ball. Where the best way to cement your spot in the squad is to be so helplessly sh*t that no one in their right mind would consider spending any sort of money on you.

Safe to say we got this one wrong.. horrible horrible defender.. it seems he goes to sleep on the pitch.. is so weak in his tackle.. should get rid of him ..

Is Lawerence Stewart any good at his job? We know he is the one that wanted Disasi and Badiashile.

Maybe Winstanley and Shields are actually very good at their jobs and pulled down by Stewart. Do we know of any good signings that he had the final stamp on before they went to Clearlake for the final sign off?

He is absolutely shocking as a footballer. It’s beyond belief he’s even in the B team. I’ve played with better amateur centre backs. And Disasi is nearly as bad.

Things look better going forwards, but we have serious issues to resolve at the back, and I think new recruits will be necessary to get it fixed. But can we trust the recruiters who bought Koulibaly and Badiashile and one or two others?
