Personally, now is the time to cash in on him, his price will never be higher, being our first choice no 9 this past season, and with us getting CL football, despite the fact Jackson is totally brain dead. Sell him this window.

Would be good for competition up front to keep him. You never know, he might go up a level.

With Guiu and Broja departing Maresca would be left with only three options up top, if they were ever in real contention. Our stance of we dont want/have to sell fits this stance. Perhaps he goes in January when the market is all but dry of strikers. Gyokeres gone Osihmen gone Isak going Sesko going.

Nico and Watkins look to be slim pickings for buying clubs.

If he is going and we wish to retain three striker options who does Maresca replace him with? (whos young and on lowish wages)

I suspect that this could all be tied to the Isaak deal. Once Newcastle get the money and snap up Sesko, Utd will come in and get him or Watkins.

Utd may get Sesko or Watkins but I think they may be even waiting for the Garnacho money. 😮

We are still on a fishing expedition for Garnacho. Its all falling into place for them, as soon as United go for the new Hojlund.

Honestly, imo the best thing to happen is if Utd buys Sesko for 80M, making them have to take a low bid for Garnacho and forcing the Geordies to buy Jackson at 70M

I think Maresca and the sporting directors want 3 strikers, or at the very least 2 out and out #9’s.

The fact we want to bring Emegha in next season is telling.

I do agree with one of the other posters though that this could be a peak value period for Jackson. Regardless of the football, I am not fan of his attitude and antics, from what we have seen. I would rather we cash in if we can and try to bring in another.

I'd take Watkins. Its one of the few positions where a third older player could really help. Watkins, Delap and Pedro would be a great attacking unit.

Depends on the timing of it all, if Villa sold Watkins, in theory it leaves them with the option to sign Jackson to cover Watkins

I’m in agreement with the club in that I don’t see us being in a position where we have to sell him at all costs. It’s not in our interest to sell Jackson for anything less than what Ekitike or Sesko are going for. We aren’t in any PSR issues and Maresca wants depth. (And by all accounts he wants 3 strikers).

We could still realistically sell Jackson next season and replace him with Emegha, which I think we will. A season where Jackson isn’t the main man could in theory have him perform better now the pressure is off.

The problem is should Pedro or Delap which the way they play will easily be done pick up an injury or suspension your back to only one option up top.

It might take a decent bid to tempt them. Still a few clubs searching.

The way we are building the team gives indication we want to compete in everything.

Our depth was terrible last season.

A moody 3rd choice Jacko is no good to us..

The last thing we need is him showing his displeasure at being 3rd choice by getting red cards.

Unfortunately it looks that way. Newcastle and United don't fancy him as their first choices and have their sights on Sesko. Totally understandable.

If Watkins goes anywhere Villa might, might, have to take Jackson out of sheer desperation. Possibly that's our only hope here.

I'd be very happy if Villa took Jackson and we got Watkins. But then again, I would also be happy if Brighton took Jackson and we got Danny Welbeck.

Well, despite those few on here that still rate him, the window opened at the beginning of June, there are a total of about 5-6 forwards that fall into the age and statistical grouping, we are now in August and there has been no serious interest in him at all. Yep he is going to be staying.
