He is getting a tune out of the players. There are positive signs that they are playing for each other and for the badge. There is also evidence of a plan for transition and credit to Jackson for being a crucial part in that. His use of Cucurella in the past 6. games deserves high praise.

I will cease my childish Fatface, hair dye references at least until it all goes tits up. Win the league and I might even call him P o c h.

It'll be ironic if they sack Poch now he's finally gotten us playing well, given that they kept him on after months of awful football

Also adds a bit of perspective for the Roman Abramovich naysayers. Roman may have been pretty ruthless in the minds of many but at least he never grandstanded about the project, trust the process and we're going for a young manager that can grow over the long run and then go through 5 managers in 2 seasons.  Utter bollocks.

What you're describing is more of an overall strategy / framework / style IMO.

My point is I don't think pochettino is especially good at identifying how to attack or defend against specific opponents, or how to adapt when the situation changes during a match. His strengths lie elsewhere.

This may be true, I do think that he has demonstrated some adjustments in games. More and more details of the Jose era is now coming out and apparently he would only focus on tactics for the really big games. Most of the time he would let the team focus on them selves.

I think next season will be a better mesure of a lot of these factors

I still stick to my guns on the idea that a young squad like ours need managerial stability. For new guys coming into England and to the Premier League Pochettino is very experienced and right type of person to ease them in. His track record of bringing new lads in to the scene is there.

What happens when the squad is experienced and the 'right age' to win things is another question completely. PSG league title is not there. He competed for Prem and CL relatively well in 2 occasions. Won nothing really.

I think we'd shoot ourselves in the foot if we sack him now. However I have no idea what was expected and what the owners' idea is. If we knew it'd be much easier to assess.

I'd be amazed if any top manager could win anything at Tottenham. We've seen Mourinho and Conte both do worse than Pochettino at that club.

You really need to be at the right club to win stuff, and be well funded, and have your share of good luck as well.

Look at how Ancelotti struggled at Everton ... and yet he leaves them and straight away wins the Champions League at Real Madrid. Top managers are basically elite at choosing their clubs LOL, and choosing a great starting XI from a great squad pool 🙂

Grown adults changing their mind after 5 games forgetting the horrendous previous 9 months with some of the worst managerial performances Ive ever seen even the last game we were back to conceding huge amount of attempts on goal from the opposition. We must have the most fickle fan base in the league

Hmmm...injuries and one of the youngest teams in the toughest league in the world. Pep would have got us what we now achieved with this group.

Remember I posted about David Ornstein was on American TV stating Poch was a target for United I really hope this just hearsay and there is no basis for it because I could the 🤡 sacking Poch and him moving to united.

Things haven't been great, defensively we've been poor.

But I saw much worse last season than I did this season, we've definitely improved.

Manager Played Goals conceded per game
Graham Potter 22 0.95
Mauricio Pochettino 28 1.68

Are goals conceded the only metric to measure improvement? We've scored far more goals, we couldn't buy a goal under Graham last season, the attack went backwards. And we've finished 6th place which is an obvious improvement.

We definitely need to improve our defending, but as someone else noted, we've conceded around the same number of goals as Tottenham, Villa, Newcastle, United.

See it as giving credit to our best keeper since Courtois! 👀

I mean, you're not wrong, but that goes to show how sh*te our keepers have been sadly.

I love a manager who shores up the defence, Poch isn’t one of them and I really struggle to see the defence improving much more next season.

I think he’s good enough to get us a top 4 finish but if we can get a manager in who will push for more, we should do it.

Yeah, our recent form have been pretty good but we still looked like conceding every time the opponent attacked or a set piece.

I think Poch got lucky the inverted Cucurella worked so well, do we really trust him to sustain the good form once teams start sussing our current tactics?

I don’t to be honest. Apparently Bayern are interested, can we do a managerial swap?

The evidence changed therefore opinions changed.

You know the Earth ain't flat, right?

Of a defence, erm....yeah, pretty much, especially when its almost twice as many goals per game.

It does seem that way, and his refusal to change until forced is a worry. Whatever though - I'm happy to stick with him while the positive results keep happening. 6th with an injury ravaged squad. Lets see what he can do if, by some miracle, he gets an injury free squad until at least Christmas.

Well aren't you a glass half empty guy. Focusing on chances we've conceded completely ignoring the tons of chances we have created.

And guess what? We had a negative goal difference last season

Last season: 12th place, 48 goals scored, 57 conceded, -9 goal difference

This Season: 6th place, 77 goals scored, 63 conceded, +14 goal difference

But yeah keep grasping at straws mate.

This is very tricky.  He doesn't 'deserve' another season. Nobody 'deserves' that.  He could have won us a trophy, but he played for penalties and we lost in a game we really should have won.  And here is the thing, I do not get any sense that we will ever win anything under Poch. He came in and completed a season and stabilised the squad. BUT This team/squad is young and exciting and it is ready to win trophies.  So, yes, we can keep Poch for another season and if we dont have too many injuries to key players, then we have a good chance of a top four finish.  So keep him for another season, sure, not against the idea, another year of Poch is fine, but i am still looking for that manager that will take us to the next level, and it is NOT Poch.

Jesus, you said we were worse defensively last season, which is blatantly bollocks in every way. Goal difference has f**k all to do with it.....mate.
