Well I've sat on the fence all season, and am now in dire need of some engrained splinters being pulled out, so I'm jumping down on Poch's side, in the hope that he can pull them out with his barbecue tongs 🙂

Onwards and upwards.

An exciting season - hopefully same again next year, but with a better defence !

Absolutely should stay.

It's been a rocky season, with horrendous injuries and a new young squad. Tactically he's been found wanting at times, but quite honestly - considering the injuries - 6th place is a definite success. I'm happy my mid season protestations against MP didn't come to fruition. The players seem to like him too. Fingers crossed we can start next season in good form and kick on from there.

Screams of fickleness on my part. Stuck by him for the longest, the Arsenal game made me give up completely, the shambolic cartoon defending, the players not caring. But they really pulled it around after that, draw against Villa and 5 wins in a row, getting us into 6th place above United and Newcastle who were above us all season.

I think he deserves another season.

I'm still worried about our defensive shape and setup, still conceding the same goals far too easily, and without Silva next season I do worry. But the players are clearly playing for him, if we do get another manager for next season I hope it's on Pochettino's terms and not the clubs, I'll be disappointed if they sack him. We need a bit of stability, let him see out his contract and get top 4 next season.

Been flip-flopping the entire season, but I’m all in on Poch now. There are issues with him and he might not be the right man in the long run, but at least for now he certainly seems to be. I’m impressed with how he kept the squad together even in some really tough circumstances, got to admit I was certain there was no getting back from that. Glad to be proven wrong!

Got a real sense he won't be here next season which will be a shame.

Feels like there is something going on. My take, based on absolutely nothing, is that BlueCo made a decision to let him go after the season some time back - probably after Arsenal. Our winning streak has thus put them in an awkward situation and they dont really know what to do next - in a strange way it feels a bit like after di Matteo won the CL.

We are the most improved team in the PL vs 22/23 !

19 more points .... 63 vs 44.

Next best is Liverpool with +15.  Then West Ham and Everton (disregarding their financial points deduction) on +12.

Poch for manager of the year ? LOL

And to think there were melons on here saying Potter did a better job ffs.

There's obvious improvement in the team, defensively no, but everywhere else we've improved.

....and just think, those extra 6 points that we should have taken from the 2-2 draws with Brentford, Burnley and Sheffield United, we would have finished 4th.  I'm 100% Poch in.....

For that same reason I’m Pochettino out. With a better manager we’d be in the Champions League or 5th above Spurs. He’s lost us too many points and, honestly, though we’re winning, I don’t see the mould of a consistent team with a good tactic. And defensively we’re still shambles. Plus, he’s not warmed up to us and hasn’t made the effort.

In.

Winning the last five matches of the season, and showing gradual improvement over the course of this season warrants another season.

I'm firmly Poch Out, however I think he has earned the right to another season. I think there's a very clear way forward for the team and that is to retain Pochettino as an interim until Ancelotti is available. Ancelotti is the perfect manager for this squad and he will no doubt be available in a year's time when Madrid's Galacticos 3.0 starts to crack.

Pochettino came in with the hardest job in world football and that is teaching at team to score goals. To understand the magnitude of what he did, our last three top EPL scorers were Havertz (7), Mount (11) and Jorginho (7). Now, we have not one but two forwards with 15+ league goals. It is much easier to find a manager who can come in and shore up a leaky defensive situation, than to find one who can break the invisible mental barrier that our goal-shy forwards dealt with. For that alone, Pochettino deserves immense credit and I am happy to have a leaky defence if it means we actually score goals again.

Our new-found attacking ability also has helped us actually come back in games. We really struggled under Potter having the mentality and belief to win games where we were behind.

Pochettino also managed through a serious injury crisis, although there is reasonable speculation as to him also being the cause as much as the victim of said crisis.

However, what troubles me about Pochettino (and our latest run does nothing to dispel that) is that he hasn't shown any reason that he can actually win trophies. To win the league we need to be capable of winning at least 10+ games in a row; prior to our latest run, we did not win more than 2 in a row. The second big black mark for me is the performance in the cups which were really there for the taking this year. We were somewhat unfortunate to lose to Liverpool but the City loss was poor as they were a team that were there for the taking, and a team with better mentality walks away with 2 cups this season.

I don't think Poch has shown anything this season or in his history that makes him seem capable of instilling that sort of mentality, and for that reason alone I don't think he is a long-term solution at Chelsea unless we want to remain a perennial top-4 chaser.

Still absolutely poch out, all those mistakes and his passiveness in games hasnt changed, our defensive mess still hasnt changed, our absolutely clow car defending of set pieces still hasnt changed. All that happened is Enzo got injured and he had to sort out the midfield finally, which he was unwilling to do until then.

Although I disagree with you dkw, I do admire you sticking to your guns as I know you haven't been a fan of Poch from day one and your reasons are valid.

But who would you realistically want to lead us into next season?

Despite your disagreement with his tactics, or lack thereof in your opinion, we would still have seen out many games if we could actually finish so it's hard for me to be too critical. If this is his worse then surely Poch at his best would see us comfortably top 4.

A better manager wouldn't have suddenly made Jackson, Sterling, Mudyrk, etc better goal scorers. We may have been better defensively but I don't see any other manager, apart from Pep, increasing our chances created with is already very high under Poch.

He deserves another season, BUT he needs to start playing the best players for the correct position. Unless there is no RB available THEN play a CH there, Gusto should have started yesterday and Chalobah instead of the lump Badie
