Agreed. Unfortunately it might take a season like that before we see any willingness from the owners to review and change their strategy.

As insane as this sounds, I would rather we do this than sign more players.

Last summer we've signed 13 players, none of which have improved us. Some of them may never even play for the first team.

Since the winter window, we've added 4 players, and it's safe to say none of them will make an impact next season (mainly due to their age).

That's a total of 17 (!!) players signed less than a year ago, for god knows how many million pounds. We're on course to finishing worse off than we did last season in terms of league position.

I have no confidence whatsoever that the people behind these signings will suddenly identify and get players that will improve us. It'll be more of the same, further digging us into this financial mess we're in. Eventually this spending will force us to sell the few good players we have in order to subsidise these mediocre signings, once we run out of hotels and the sorts to balance the books.

I'd be all for figuring out the best squad we can assemble with the legions of players we have on our books, because the trend shows that we will not be getting any clear improvements.

I agree that we can’t keep bringing in the number of players we have been but because of the poor recruitment so far we are still way off. We still need an experienced spine. We have tinsel and baubles but no tree. It’s criminal that for all the money spent we still need a decent keeper, centre half and centre forward. Oh and manager.

The guy is a lunatic. To be honest, it has been hidden in plain sight all season. Any manager who chooses Sanchez as his number 1 keeper, and declares Nicolas Jackson his dream striker is clearly not thinking clearly.

He is in full on excuse mode at the moment. The results have turned on him, the pundits have turned on him, the fans have turned on him, the players are next….then the board.Trust the process…

Looking at the premier league table, it made me even more annoyed with Maresca.

His pathetic stubbornness lead to our dismal form, deciding to rest key players for f*cking Legia when we desperately needed points. Can’t even beat Ipswich.

It’s a real possibility that we could end up 10th, to be honest that would be quite funny since Maresca have been banging on about progress.

This is why it’s so frustrating. Probably the weakest the PL has been in decades and we’re going to finish outside of any European place solely due to a stubborn system.

The players we have are good enough for Top 4 if we play to their strengths. Outside of Cucurella not one player is being played to match their ability.

And when its all said and done, if we are not top 4, all those sub stats will account for nothing.

Oh I forgot, its top 5 this year and we won't even achieve that.

Why does the strategy need to change?

If that is what they think should happen, then I am fine with it. We are buying some seriously talented players....good players. Potential best in class.

The issue is the way the manager is playing them, which from what I can see plays to none of their strengths (perhaps with the exception of cucurella and jackson)

Tough one. Which child do I love more/hate less.....

I think I would have to take Maresca for another season, and get Wacko gone. There is always a slim outside chance that with a proper striker, Maresca changes his style.... but there is zero chance that Jackson becomes a good striker.
