Come on Bob… “they don’t deem him good enough”? ....Really?

Lately I feel like I’m disagreeing with everything you say - honestly, it’s nothing personal, but you are always wrong! :D

Let’s actually look at the evidence:

  1. After initially dropping Rob, we loaned out Petrovic and made Sánchez first choice.

  2. Petrovic goes and wins GK of the Year in France… and what do we do? Sell him. Stick with Sánchez as first choice.

  3. We buy Jørgensen, a shiny new toy… but still keep Sánchez as first choice.

  4. Our “great young hope Penders? Off on loan. Guess who stays number one? Yep - Rubbish Rob!

  5. And now this summer: no new keeper signed, and guess started the season in goal? (Drum roll…) Rickety Robert!

That’s not one or two lucky breaks - that’s a whole host of decisions in his favour and backing him. So to argue “they don’t rate him”… mate, the club is treating him like he’s Cech reincarnated.

3 season of blue co yet we still have this discussion.

If there is a gk that fit our director player model and more importantly their value model, we would have signed him into blue co magical group.

Improving over player x, y n Z is not important. It is irrelevant.

You can't speak about 'value' when we're dropping 60M on random kids.

Today was a hard watch and JP might have picked up a niggle at the end. We've been lucky with VAR bailing us out so far, If we have lose both strikers, I can see this being a long season. Cant really argue with the start. Think there's a hangover from the summer circus and Maresca is going to have to find alternatives to his system to keep us up the league.

We're still in CWC mode, and I said after it that Maresca will need to find another way to play in the Premier League, but he's just completely one note. Happy with the win today, but I just feel like if we move a bit quicker in the league, we will look a lot more comfortable.

Maresca will be pleased with 7 points from 3 games. Only conceded 1 goal, scored 7, and as a team we are more organized and professional than recent years.

That said, Palace and Fulham games didn’t pass the eye test. I’m concerned we have enough issues in key areas that only one has to be exposed each game:

  • GK position remains shaky

  • Lack of a world class CB

  • Not really winning midfield, although think that is solvable with Lavia or Santos playing deeper alongside Caicedo

  • Lack of attacking depth. Injury to striker and we’re back to an academy winger playing upfront. Hopefully quick returns for Palmer, Delap and introduction of Garnacho helps there

Anyway, positive results and nice way to head into the first international break.

We got absolutely murdered by Fulham when the game was end to end.

He still trying to play through the middle and Palace and Fulham nullified that tactic both times. We got lucky today it wasn’t the coach who won us that match today as he got out coached by Silva today.

It seems he still stubborn and can’t seem to adjust his tactics when opposition managers clearly figured out how he wants to play.

I'm not saying make it end to end. But playing quicker when they are pressing and when we are attacking can't be a bad thing. It's just creating our own problems.

We looked better playing slow boring ball. If you want to play fast you cannot pick Tosin, Cucu n Enzo together. The moment we lose the ball, it was over.

Then don't play Enzo.

Now that the dust has settled, I am still not convinced he will be able to make us challenge for the League. 3 games in and in 2 of those, we needed controversial decisions going our way to scramble a point/get a win. Today, Maresca was getting outclassed by Silva until that disallowed goal and only after Fulham dropped their heads down, did we start playing better.

In another day, the goal stays and we lose the game 0 : 2 with no goal coming even if we are given 180 mins to play. We should start thinking about moving away from him and his stubbornness but knowing he is merely a Yes man of the ones above him, we need a United level meltdown for him to get the boot. So much attacking talent and not being able to play Fulham out of the park at home is disgraceful.

We were never meant to challenge for the league this season.

Yeah, sorry, but no. This excuse of "we were never supposed to challenge during X season" is getting old. We showed last season we were perfectly capable to at least put some pressure on Liverpool and Arsenal and, coincidentally, around the game with today's opponent, we should have taken over 1st place even for 24 hours, mind you, when our gaffer decided it was time to play the game "his way" and put the brakes on our players and serve us his special dish.

Liverpool and City have retooled their squads massively, United are in shambles, after today's game we saw that Tottenham are way off too. This season is the ideal one to push for something more and at least be in the challenge for a large amount of the season. If the first few games are any indicator, we will be struggling to secure top 4 again, same as last season.

VAR saved Maresca and his stupid tactics again at home. Both Palace and Fulham nullified his game plan and he looked clueless trying to figure out what to do then VAR turned up to save him.

If he continues this same game plan eventually his luck is going to run out. Trying to force the ball through the middle when you see the opposition is cutting off your passing lane, blocking the pass into Caicedo and pass into the hole behind the opponents midfield yes you still keep trying it.

Reminds me of stubborn Pep.

He needs to come up with another plan or we will struggle this season.

The second half always belongs to the manager. We came out a completely dominant team in the second half. Props to our gaffer!

That's not the case though. After the second goal Fulham threw more caution to the wind and became more open. For a period of time we were able to pick off their recklessness and countered. If anything it did indeed look like we would add a third as we were finding space behind them. Silva saw this, made a couple of changes to get a bit more solidity and we went back to looking shaky and careless with the ball. Luckily for us their attack was pretty blunt as well so their was no hail mary ending. I was genuinely sitting there thinking if they nick one here I can see another Leicester and Guppy ending happening
