First time I have felt nervous about the team all year as we are actually doing well and Brentford just love to knock us off our stride. Dropping Sancho and playing Badi as the CCB, now that's bold. Not just Mbeumo, Wissa is a big threat as well. Honestly Enzos up turn in form, and Netos suspension, while Noni has been poor for a while, I would still sooner move Palmer to the right, Enzo to the 10 and have Gusto at RB/RCB. Means Cucu plays his best role, pushed on to the attack, Colwill stays in the middle and Badi goes to the LCB role. And we still have the Lavia and Caicedo pivot. How? Still our 3rd top contributor in the league, and has a goal & 2 assists in his last 4 appearances. Isn’t the issue that the manager feels he he doesn’t go for the kill after scoring/assisting? Nailed on to start against Brentford.

Am sure he will start the game. 5 hours ago, Gordon Bennett said: No mate - just play Caicedo inverted right back like we have been doing Think that is asking for trouble with Mbeumo and Wissa in good form. Brentford often score an early goal, will have to pay attention right from the get go.

He had a period where he was off form, however on his most recent start bagged a goal and an assist and could have easily got a hattrick. Has to start on Sunday for reasons mentioned earlier.
December 13, 20241 yr Whoever plays alongside Colwill will be key. We should win but I’ve said that every time we’ve played them at the Bridge. Our tails are up though so I’m going 4-1.

December 14, 20241 yr Author I worry about sharing this, concerned for @Sexyfootballheart rate, but. FT: Arsenal 0-0 Everton Liverpool 2-2 Fulham
December 14, 20241 yr Can end the weekend 2 points behind Liverpool although they have a game in hand. 4 points above Arsenal.

December 14, 20241 yr 7-6 game written all over this one. no idea what way to call it really. Brentford can give anyone a game on their day. We need the win given Liverpool slipped up today

The scheduling Gods were shining on Eastern Canada with a 2 pm kick off. They wanted us to have a good sleep, eat a hearty breakfast and watch a weekend game in the afternoon for the first time in a gazillion years. Compensation for all the 7.30 am kick off times we enjoy so much. It will be interesting to see how many viewers there are in North America up against prime time NFL.
December 14, 20241 yr It’ll be a big result for our top 4 chances if we can beat Brentford tomorrow given today’s results!

How many managers different managers have we had that tried and failed to beat Brentford in the league. Only Tuchel managed it I think, and that was at their place. Our record at the Bridge stinks.

Every Chelsea manager beats Spurs don't they? 1 goal for, 8 against in 3 home matches against them. Huge match and I will start to believe Maresca may have something special about him IF he can break this curse they have over us and win this game. Don't care if it is a 90th minute winner from a Palmer pen or the ref messes up in our favour that gets the job done. Just win.
December 14, 20241 yr Well Arsenal and Liverpool have given us a small window of opportunity which we have tended to fluff in recent times, and you just know that Bournemouth is going to score because they can, so ambition is critical, and optimism needs to be playing at centre forward tomorrow...... A nail biting 5 -1 to us. 😉 Edited December 14, 20241 yr by TheBeard
December 14, 20241 yr Author Crucially important is how Maresca sets us up to deal with Mbeumo and Wissa. Both are having very good seasons. We know all about sides double or triple marking Palmer. Not saying we go that far but we must not allow them space, or freedom in and around the box. Maresca has to have a plan for Mbeumo and Wissa. If we are to win, that is key.
December 14, 20241 yr Gonna be tough with Nkuku, Felix, Mudryk, lavia missing training and Neto suspended. It's imperative we start strong and score early goals. The longer it is a tied game the more the atmosphere in the bridge will go dark. Sanchez Gusto colwilll badiashale cucu Caicedo. Enzo Madueke palmer sancho Jackson Expecting giuiu and george to come on if legs are tired

Wow did not know that, all our other attacking options injured at the same time, bar Neto? And Lavia out as well? Bench will be really light then, no game changers.
December 14, 20241 yr Fk, didn't know about lavia or felix. Neto is a loss but add those 2 as well! The rest need to step up tmrw...
