August 1Aug 1 Appoint him as captain immediatelyhttps://www.chelseafc.com/en/news/article/acheampong-no-friendlies-when-chelsea-play-tottenham
August 1Aug 1 Acheampong won't make it to the top level unless he adds some aggression to his game, I've been saying this for a while now. You can't be a defender and play as soft as he does, not a serious one anyway.

We are not helping him by holding onto him, and not playing him. This is his make or break season.
August 2Aug 2 Palace are interested in him. Want to buy him outright. For Josh such a move really seems like a great step for his career Imo. So long as we got both a buy back clause and a sell on percentage then I think a sale to them is a good idea. Maybe 35mill fee, sell on of 20% and buy back active in summer 2027 through to summer 2030 for around 50mill.

Newcastle will be upset they sold Anderson for 15 million, reckon us lot will feel the same should he leave. Cracking prospect.

Cracking prospect. Why I'd want the buy back set in place. Same way Real Madrid tend to do things with youngsters they sell. We need the funds to cover the losses we would take selling Disasi, Fofana, Badishille, Delap etc. As well as for strengthening the team. If we need to do this so that we do get Wharton and Diogo Costa for Alonso then so be it. If we can can sign them while only loaning Josh then even better. But for his sake he either needs to be first choice here this season, or get a loan to someone like palace where he is first choice.

Perhaps a loan, but I dont trust the scum who run us to improve the squad, we are already struggling to do that this summer. Outside of rogers, Not really sure we can say we've improved, added a little experience, but I think we're weaker ahead of this season.

August 3Aug 3 He needs to play. In a season with no Europe, we are better off giving that 3rd spot to Fofana, who'll likely rot on the bench given Lacroix+Colwill's fitness (knock on wood). Acheampong would benefit from being at a side that will actually play him every week.

August 3Aug 3 Agree that he's at the stage of development where he really needs to get regular game time and with no Europe that probably limits opportunities here, if so then would rather see him as a loan somewhere in Prem. Hopefully would work out positive as in the case of Colwill.

The only time he was out was when Sanchez concussed him. Lacroix doesn't get injured, and the defence needs to have Colwill, so whoever the 3rd CB is going to be is going to get scrap minutes. Rather that be Fofana than Josh.
August 3Aug 3 Given we all have to be data scientists, the data set for Fofana's injuries looks like this - Id Say he's due a lengthy layoff again soon. Guy is a walking crutch waiting to happen.Credit him, he's been injured for nearly 700 days since we signed him. This is why I'd keep Josh about, better defender emerging as well, can play right and centre back.
