August 28, 2025Aug 28 Author Leipzig want a bidding war and the club simply won’t entertain it. Leipzig will likely encourage Simons to join Spurs the poor sap. Let’s see if he pulls a Caicedo and says no he’ll only join Chelsea.
August 28, 2025Aug 28 Through all of this speculation have we actually made a bid?Looks like the Nkunku money/spot is going on simple jack. Edited August 28, 2025Aug 28 by C3blue

Where would we be without Romano's glittering perspicacity, with that in depth knowledge of the machinations of the market that he possess and that rare quality of being how to read and predict how these play out at the fag end of the window period. He could wait for Chelsea or he could accept Spurs.......................tw@t
August 28, 2025Aug 28 Has the money we got for Nkunku just gone straight to buying Garnacho? Would buying Simons require us to sell Jackson or someone else? Imagine being told hold on we just need to sell before we can pay your transfer fee. You hold on for months declining offers from big clubs across Europe only for Chelsea to finally make the money to buy you only to prioritize Garnacho? He’s definitely going to Spurs. If I was him I’d be ringing up Bayern.

August 29, 2025Aug 29 Simons has a choice then. He can move to Spurs now, or gamble, turn them down and hope we offload players to be able to afford him.
August 29, 2025Aug 29 From Fab 10 minutes ago, he's agreed to Tottenham! They want the deal done today!
August 29, 2025Aug 29 It is what it is, won’t cry over anyone who chooses Spurs. If he comes here, id be happy - if he chooses them… that speaks volume on his character.

If he comes here, id be happy - if he chooses them… that speaks volume on his character. How though? Club has a recent history of been weird with players. Interest has been there for over a month but not 1 bid sent in, and the window closes in 3 days. Everyone knew Simons had a €60m release clause. Spurs tried earlier in the window, he said no he was waiting on Chelsea. Spurs went away and started throwing money around at Savinho & Paz without success. They have come back with 4 days left in the window, played on our indecisiveness and matched his release clause. We pulled the same with Huljsen; knew his £50m release clause, knew at some point Madrid might get interested but only after the CWC, and getting a new manager. We fannied around again till Madrid sorted out their mess, and now released a statement saying he was one of the players we were monitoring. In both situations we made it easy for both players to move to other destinations.Fully expect us to cancel Jackson’s loan deal, and use Pedro in the role earmarked for Simons.
August 29, 2025Aug 29 From Garnacho and Simons I'd prefer Simons but they knew all summer if we can't ship off 2 from the 3 Nkunku, Jackson and George we won't buy Simons or any other attacker. So knowing that is pretty weird people are sick of Fabrizio Romanos continuous tweets about it. That is his job. I always feel people are petulant and selfish and can't live another tweet unless it says here we go. Loosen up.Always reminds me of this brilliant Gervais bit:

We haven't even made an offer yet.
August 29, 2025Aug 29 Very odd behaviour. Negotiating for months and end up with nothing, not even making a bid. It's as if we swapped places with Spuds.

August 29, 2025Aug 29 If we end up with nobody it'll be idiotic planning which undoes some of the good work we've done in this window. I can only assume we're all in on Lopez or someone else to basically just let Spurs have a free run at Xavi.

August 29, 2025Aug 29 Xavi isnt done yet spuds havent even done his medical 😉 yetmaybe our interest has cooled we were shooting at 60 mill now theyve agreed 51 with spudsHincapie isnt done yet to Arsenal maybe we looking (at a CB )there instead.the window is open for a full 3 days yet and we can still offload excess stock to Saudi for another fortnight.Im sitting here with my smoking jacket on posing with my cigarette holder like Kenny Everetts Marcel Marceau. If this fella wants Spurs he needs his head examined. August 29, 2025Aug 29 Just posted from Matt Law:Understand there’s no intention at the Chelsea end to try to hijack Tottenham and Simons. They’ve been interested in the player but never made a formal bid and have other targets. Bridges have been built in the relationship between Chelsea and Spurs over recent years and there’s no desire to demolish them now.
