Some wanted him at Chelsea.

He certainly seemed a lot better at Brentford than he was at Spurs !

Given that Andrews has slipped seamlessly into his shoes, despite losing their two best forwards from 24/25, it probably speaks volumes for Brentford being the poster-child for a well-run and well organised football club.

I think most team know understand that manager or HC is not that important. As long as you do your recruitment well and don't appoint crazy manager (Amorim 343 no matter what), you will be fine.

HOW ABOUT A CHEEKY WAGER ON MARESCA? 20/1

I suspect De Zerbi. Sacked by Marseilles. Stubborn individual, wedded to one tactic. Play it around at the back, wait for the oppo to advance, play through and counter attack. Worked at Brighton till oppo stopped falling for it. And Spurs don't have the cattle to play that way anyway.

Yep. And Andrews is basically following the Frank model. Keep it simple, get it to the striker(s).

Would love to see De Zerbi go there and then take Spurs down as I can't stand either of them!!

Spurs ....they are getting dangerously near the relegation zone, but fear not, they are too good to go down.😐

If they did go down they are the sort of club that might struggle to come straight back up again.😐

They have a great balance sheet, a fabulous stadium and im sure they will recruit a first class manager to guide them to safety.😐

PMSL 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣

Or of course Maresca - that would be equally satisfying to see the useless bald c**t take Spurs down and the first time I've been happy that they have an ex CFC manager.

Never liked the fact they had Conte or Mourinho - a stain on both CV's.

Was surprised (pleasantly) that things didn't work out for Frank as I thought he would do well there. Kind of glad he's gone as I can go back to liking the bloke again.

Well damn, that likely kills the slim hope of Spurs getting relegated.

I think it was more of a slim chance. I can see West Ham putting a few results together, but Tottenham were getting nothing. I think it was a real possibility that they would go down. Hopefully there is no new manager bounce.

It was one of those you never know to hold on to, especially after West Ham found a new gear.

Think it is gone now mate, all thy need is a few wins and they will be fine to be ahead of at least one of Forest, Leeds or west Ham.

A mate of mine is a ST holder at Charlton. When I next see him I'll ask what he thinks of the idea.

Championship play-offs: Clubs to vote on expanding play-o...

EFL clubs will vote on expanding play-offs in the Championship from four to six teams at a meeting next month.

EFL clubs will vote on expanding play-offs in the Championship from four to six teams at a meeting on 5 March.

The proposal, which has been under consideration for a number of seasons, would mean the teams finishing from third to eighth compete for a place in the Premier League.

It would mirror the format used in the National League.

The teams finishing in third and fourth would automatically move through to the semi-finals.

The quarter-finals, or eliminator round, would feature one-legged ties, with fifth hosting eighth and sixth at home to seventh.

In the two-legged semi-finals, third place would take on the lowest-ranked team remaining, with fourth facing the highest.

The final would still take place at Wembley at the end of May.

The change has been approved by the EFL board and the Football Association.

It requires a majority of clubs in the EFL (at least 37 of 72) and also in the Championship (at least 13 of 24) to vote in favour of the change at the extraordinary general meeting.

The Championship has what could be described as a master share in any vote to alter the regulations.

If passed, the new play-off system would be in place for the 2026-27 season.

It is seen as giving greater opportunities to clubs with fewer resources, perhaps without parachute payments, to compete for promotion to the Premier League.

At present there are no plans to expand the play-offs in League One or League Two, but its success will be assessed.

Four teams are currently relegated from League One. Because of that, seventh in League Two gets a play-off place.

The EFL will also discuss proposals to change promotion and relegation to three up, three down between League Two and the National League.

At present two teams are relegated, while only the National League champions are guaranteed a place in the EFL. The second place is filled through the play-off system.

However, there is no scheduled vote to change it.

I don't like that idea personally. Being able to finish 8th in the league and still having a chance at promotion to the Premier League is just rewarding failure.

Agreed. Also 1st, 2nd and 3-6th can barely hold their own when they come up, most usually going straight down again save a few exceptions... what's to say about the 7th or 8th place getting lucky and promoted only to be obliterated in the PL?

Feels like a move most clubs would approve though, PL teams would get the benefit of facing even weaker sides every year, while weaker sides get rewarded with a better chance to grab that PL money, at least for a season.

f**k, Villa score. That pulls them away a bit.

Brighton have 1 win in 13, always likely Vila would win this. they are sill in trouble though, they will drop plenty more points

Not bothered about other results tbh. They mean nothing if we can't win our games.

5 wins in 14 with a rough March ahead. I think the damage is irreparable at this point.
