This is how it looks after the last 16.The Premier League is pretty much as good as guaranteed to get that 5th spot then. I don't think it will be us that takes it though.

March 18Mar 18 Many of us have laughed at Spurs and particularly Igor Tudor.Credit to them for getting knocked out with pride restored after their diabolic first leg.How about us? Oh right the stats were in our favour. Except the one that matters. At least we respect the ball though, right. Not the badge or our history though.

The PL has become DULL. And as if the boing football wasn't enough, when you add in all the price increases, VAR and questionable running of the PL by the FA, how long before the bubble bursts?Supporters of Everton, Forest and Leicester who have all seen points deductions for their teams, must rightly be pissed off when we only suffered a hefty fine yesterday and City are still not being penalised for their 115 charges. It's all a bit of a mess. The Telegraph seemed to agree at the start of the season and I can't imagine their view got any better.Television ratings are down both domestically and in the foreign markets that PL investors are supposed to be targeting. Given the state of the world it would not be surprising if the bubble utterly popped.

It's all a bit of a mess.I listen to football phone ins after games. And fans of the majority of PL clubs complain about the same thing.... slow, possession based, passionless footbal. Liverpool fan after Spurs game " backwards backwards, sideways football" YouTube Arsenal fan TV was headed " too much pass, pass, pass" a while back after a poor result. Our local paper "The Argus" reported that Brighton were playing all the game in front of the opposition going from one side of the pitch to the other with little attempt at penetration after a recent game.. The passion has been driven out of the game, the champions likely to be one that targets corners as a favourite strategy. I can't see broadcasters bunging more billions into the game if the " product" continues to decline. ??

In addition, foreign broadcast income outstrips domestic income. Whether or not that income has peaked is another matter and not relevant to this point.

March 21Mar 21 Man Utd got robbed last night, which makes a change. I noticed how they hardly if ever play out from the back with their keeper unlike us putting both bozos in danger.

March 21Mar 21 I see Carrick is getting upset with VAR and he has a point though it is refreshing to see another competitor feeling the strain.
March 21Mar 21 Results are going our way so far this week. I want to believe we can capitalize but I'm really not sure we will. Feel like we've signed off for the season.

We will still get the same profile & quality of player with or without champions league unless something changes.
March 22Mar 22 Author In just 3 minutes, I have seen Newcastle players put in more effort than our players did in 90 minutes. I urge anybody that supports Chelsea to watch any other game and you will see just how little effort our players put in to a game of football.

But for me he is the closest thing to what Klopp used to play in the Premier League. Very direct, pacey wingers, active full backs and physical in the midfield area. And it is how his Bournemouth side used to play as well, with some limitations, of course. I used to like Guardiola's tactics during his prime, but now they just do my head in. Maresca tried to implement that and now we seem stuck with passing behind the center backs and the gk like there are no other players on the pitch. 100 passes just to get close to the opposition area...
March 22Mar 22 I will be watching City and Arsenal today in the League Cup final, will be interesting to see how Pep reacts to Arsenal's strong arm defensive tactics that refs turn a blind eye too.
