Manchester City vs Chelsea (PL) Sunday 4th January 17:30 GMT

Surprised we got a point out of this game. Didn't have any expectation we'd get close to City.

Still very dismayed by recent events and the prospect of Rosenior being appointed doesn't fill me with any excitement or optimism, so it's very much mixed feelings at the moment.

In isolation, a point away at City is a good result given the current circumstances.

Incredible result, credit to the players. We struggled but in general I though we were not too bad considering all the players we were missing.

Yes, City should have scored more in the first half but hey, you take it and run.

Interestingly the City fans are suggesting that they didn’t win today because Pep refuses to rotate and their belief is that in the modern era you have to rest players.

To be fair football even in the last 15 years is faster and more technical than the days of Terry et al.

January will take a massive toll on clubs no player at any club will be able to play 10 games in 31 days.

I never did disagree with the rotation policy per se, and the recovery of both James and Fofana has been a boon. The issue has been the crazy positioning, formations and duties required mainly due to the dramatic fall off of standards in the players. Resting Cucurella now and again makes absolute sense u til we are having to play players out of position due to the drop off in quality when putting the replacement in.

You must have missed it but Badiashile kept us in the game with his block of a Foden pass to a wide open Haaland. The whole defence, which was widely lambasted before the start, deserves some credit for limiting City to just 3 shots on target.

Is that the recovery from his own misplaced pass that they were applauding during commentary.

Edit - That might have been Acheampong actually.

He was there in the final minutes of the match making a run to the second post which put himself in a position to score. I thought he had a strong game esp considering the opposition.

Delap was the one who completely missed the cross -- glad he did tho.

Think Ake's touch took it away from him.

It's funny we would all be thrilled with this performance but the retard owners have to ruin it by hiring another complete stooge and a halfrican to boot lmfao

What's this "halfrican" stuff?

Although I'm pleased as punch we stole a point from City, I'm not as impressed with our second half performance as others are. Yes, eventually it was an improvement on the first half, but we hardly managed to threaten City's goal. We were better at containing them, but they also back-pedalled a bit. We weren't good in the second half, we were less bad.

Also, too many Liams around, when there's only one @Liam that counts.

Delighted with the result/performance yesterday. I had little hope before the game and the bookies thought we had little chance too. First half, we rode our luck. They were all over us and Haaland hit the post. Second half we improved. Neto missed a sitter and thought we wasn't going to get another chance until Enzo scored. I thought Enzo scoffed it. Only realised it went in until he started celebrating.

Palmer, is still frustrating me a bit. He got on the ball more second half but isn't influencing the game enough. He seemed to be outmuscled or lost the ball everytime he took on one of their players. I want to see him back to the player we know. He just wasn't that effective, albeit he was better in the second half than first half.

I was surprised we did not add on another attacker as we went for the goal second half. I still thought we were playing it too safe and if the same situation arises again, we really needed to get another winger on the pitch to stretch the opposition. Also said in first page of this thread that City having less rest is only glimmer of hope I had and you can see towards latter stages, City looked knackered and I think the extra rest may have helped us, but balances out considering we had Sanchez, Cucu and Caicedo unavailable. Let me not forget Fofana, Colwill and Lavia all unavailable too.

Santos was brilliant when he came on. Won the ball back a few times and mad excellent progressive runs with the ball which broke their press. Delap was really good too imo. He really held the ball up well and brought a different dynamic to the game. Liverpool drawing made that even a more important result. I don't see Liverpool getting anything at Arsenal, so if we beat Fulham, we should be above Liverpool by end of the week, my prediction tells me. Fulham also missing 2/3 key players at AFCON.

In keeping with several other posts. One referencing "homos", for example.

EDIT. Banned, I see. Yes, good riddance.

He's clearly not back up to speed and fitness after the injury time off.

Noticed that the poster only joined last Friday. The quickest ban in The Shed End history?

Suspect they might have been a relatively recently banned poster back with a new name. Same deliberately provocative bent.

Good point. I read some of the posts and very provocative.

This is my issue then. I am glad we got the point, but if he is not, then why is he playing 90 mins. Maresca said he is able to play 90 mins the other day. Personally, since he has come back, I think he has been poor in all those games. I think with the way we set up second half, Estevao should have been on the right wing as he has direct pace. I feel Palmer stayed on due to reputation. I get it that he is not fully at speed but I expected a bit better than what we have seen, that is all. I am sure he will get there, but just feel he has had a while to get back to scratch now.
