Go a few seconds before when Fofana receives the ball and has Gusto all free on his right. That ball should never have ended up at Jorgensen's feet in the first place. Two low IQ moments from players paid millions to hit a football...

Who’s he even passing it to here? Surely RB, LB or LM are the obvious choices.

9 times out of ten we seem to want the GK to play centrally. It's been happening all the time since this manager took over. And it is always dodgy as f**k because the player receiving is facing his own goal with pressure behind him. But we keep doing it.

There are no easy answers when you don't have the keeper or defenders good enough on the ball.

Although I am no fan, I get why coaches want to try and play out from the back. If you kick it long, invariably the ball keeps coming back at you fairly quickly as it did last night when we did kick long. IF you have a keeper or defenders who CAN play accurate passes to the middle 99 times out of 100, we do have players like Palmer, Santos and Lavia who are great at receiving and then opening the opposition up. Even last night, before the disaster struck, at times it was squeeky-bum time but we did manage to move the ball well, but you just knew, at some point we wouldn't be so lucky and we'd get punished and so it turned out. The defenders are as much to blame for not being any good either so taking the easy option and passing it back to the keeper. Jorgensen, Sanchez, it really doesn't matter - same outcome.

Colwill and Acheampong look a whole lot better bringing the ball out. Can only hope they both feature more next season.

Even if you have players good on the ball, this style requires 110% levels of concentration and it can never be dropped. Zero leeway or you will be punished.

Sarri and Maresca, men who are notorious for favoring this style of play, inevitably gave it up because they've realized it's suicide in the Premier League and elite teams have adapted a pressing game to make it redundant.

How about the easy answer is let your defenders play it about at the back but when it goes back to the keeper he clears his lines and goes long . No touch, nothing. At least do it a few times to put doubt in the pressers head as to whether or not to bother pressing.

Somebody wrote a good post about the baited press earlier not working. I hate it. I’d prefer we didn’t f**k about in our own half at all.Good teams dominate and play football in the oppositions half.

All the teams fcuck around with the ball at the back. However, the good ones know when to release it quickly and not fcuck around at the back. That requires players and a manager with a little more experience. We need to fcuck around with the ball less at the back. It is clearly not working.

Sanchez is a better keeper than Jorgensen --- but neither will be able to play keeper/sweeper.

Inviting the oppo to press you and put you under pressure, hence problems. Especially -v- the likes of PSG who swarm. The CWC tactics -v- PSG were simple but effective. No faffing around, Sanchez went long, putting the ball well into their half, we pressed like stink. Their shaky defence couldn't cope. Just baffling why LR set out to do the exact opposite.

We also won the Champions League under Tuchel because the keeper went long.

Which is why we aren't there yet, but we're about 3 signings away from being able to do so imo. Whether or not the board are capable of making the correct decision and to rectify their experience since mistakes is another conversation.

I might agree with you if we sign Kvara, Yamal and Bastoni this summer. Otherwise it ain’t happening.

Yes we actually play a variant on playing out from the back. Its based on the measured and disciplined keeper /sweeper ploy.

However we currently play it until we totally fcuk it up and lose possession. We then repeat that process again and again until we concede a goal. If time permits we carry on with the same approach in the knowledge that we cannot possibly concede another goal or can we?

Anyway during LRs post match word salad he expressed puzzlement that we conceded several late goals as PSGs xG was very low. (Nothing to do with fcuking about at the back, Liam. ) Is this bloke for real?

"Rosenior: Chelsea 'very close to outstanding' despite PSG thumping

03/11/2026 - 11:59 PM

Paris Saint-Germain put on a late show at Parc des Princes but Liam Rosenior did not leave discouraged by Chelsea's showing

Even at 4-2, we were still right in it. The fifth goal, that's the painful one. It's something I have to really solve. We are very close to being an outstanding team," Rosenior said during his post-match press conference.

Have to play to the players you have. If the keeper does not have the ability to play as a sweeper with quality judgement of situations then don't ask him to do it.

Roseniors big game management is very much in question.

Came through against Napoli however his line ups, and subs, have not worked against Arsenal x3 and now PSG.

He still has to face this season:

Manchester United

Manchester City

Liverpool

Tottenham (they are sh*t but to us it is a big game)

And quite possibly Arsenal, City and/or Liverpool in the FA CUP

I can’t even get pissed at LR.

He is just the front man and eventually the next fall guy to this sh*t show right now.

We attack the SD’s and the manager gets canned, the axe always falls down and then it’s rinse and repeat.

We should turn our wrath to Eggyballbag and hope the axe falls down on the SD’s otherwise nothing changes.

OK I've said this already but I'm still so miffed by yesterday I will say it again.

If you don't have a goalkeeper who can play short passes AND has the on pitch intelligence to know when to do so and when to get rid then don't ASK HIM TO PLAY THAT WAY!

So many of us were on Maresca for his stubbornness. Does not matter that it is your philosophy or not you have to win, you said that yourself Liam, on day one ou said that and you sabatoaged an otherwise really good performance

It is funny how the directors continue to instruct the manager on tactics.

Maybe the manager should instruct the directors on how to recruit.

Like the good old days and the system used by every successful club 👍

3 signings away from challenging on all fronts?

Sorry mate I can’t agree with that. Especially with how inexperienced our manager is.

We're nowhere near it. We're going to finish the season over 20 points behind Arsenal, I'm expecting it to reach 30 minimum. 3 players isn't going to close the gap, because even if we found a world class GK, CB, and LW, the squad as a whole is horrible. There are 5 players in total I rate highly, Palmer, Pedro, Caicedo, James, Estevao, everybody else is either the tier below, too young, or just horrible.

Not only that, he must have watched the exact same nonsense happening to Tottenham the night before and decided it was a risk worth taking !
