Arsenal vs Chelsea (PL) Sunday 1st March 16:30 GMT

Featured Replies

Chelsea have something like 7 reds, in prem Liverpool 1, Utd 1....

Arse, Villa, City & someone else have none!!.😲...are their tackles & talking back to refs any different than Chelsea players!!!!... Fkn seems like an agenda or what.... How many times did Arse centre halves foul today alone yet 1 yellow at end of game for a foul at halfway... 🙄

Started off really shaky — mainly because Sanchez was scaring the life out of everyone with his passing. Otherwise thought we kept them at bay and thought Sarr and Hato did okay.

After the break we took the game to them more. Might well have got an equaliser if Neto hadn’t lost his head. After that it was game over sadly.

Can’t see us honestly turning it around now. It’s just whether Villa crash and burn faster than us. Disappointing season really but largely self inflicted. Poor recruitment, poor discipline, individual errors, points squandered, manager mayhem. Been a bit of a shambles all round.

Beyond the Caicedo one, I think we had 2 for denying a goalscoring opportunity (Chalobah and Sanchez). The rest of our red cards haven't been second yellows I think. It is the volume of stupid yellows that is the real issue and has been a problem for several seasons now. We've getting pointless yellows for dissent and kicking the ball away etc. which then put players under pressure the rest of the game. Today Neto got his first yellow for dissent. I think the club needs to sort out the discipline and fast. Maybe start fining a week's wages for picking up stupid yellows like Neto today.

The big problem is we've gone back to poverty after wasting billions. It's not like the new owners have come into this club and not invested in the squad. That's why we will get no sympathy and deservedly so.

I agree. It was all so unnecessary. The new owners inherited a club that was established as regulars in the top 4 and in the Champions League most seasons. They could have just made a few changes here and there and kept the club ticking along in the same pattern. But they wanted to reinvent the club in their own identity, and proceeded to spend a fortune to take us to where we are now. It actually took some doing to spend such a large sum while downgrading the club. I think somebody on here mentioned Peter Ridsdale at Leeds and certainly some similarities. Lets hope it ends better for us as a club, but we are not on a good trajectory at present.

I think what’s most damning about our place in history on this list, is the company we are keeping here, just look at these sides with us, embarrassing doesn’t even do it justice; it’s an absolute disgrace. It’s relegation fodder/‘nothing club’ traits.

10 games left to set a new, hard to top, record.

I believe we can do it. We got this.

Oh on the red cards, I just heard something I did not know.

We Now have more red cards than PL home wins this season.

Just to clarify we have not had 9 red cards in the Premier League this season. 2 of that total have come in other competitions (Delap in the League Cup and JP in Champiions League). We've had 7 in the league though (4 of which were second yellows) and that is pretty darn awful.

What can we do first though?

10 PL home wins

10 PL Red cards

Well, they wanted a young team, they've got it. Young, silly, petulant, mentally fragile. No character, no leadership, no maturity, breaks down at the first sight of trouble. Same thing, match after match, rince and repeat.

No words to express how much I hate this ownership/management c**ts. Destroyed a once respectable club.

This, the worst part is that there is no end to this.

It is fun to see a young team growing and maturing but it is not fun seeing a young team keep getting younger every season.

And presumably we're selectively forgetting the previous manager's one

Fifa need to do something with set pieces. Everyone run the same ugyl cram the 6 yard box with as many player as possible so the gk can't jump.

And the ridiculous throw in set up. If goalkeepers have to release the ball in 8 seconds then throw ins should be back in play in 5 seconds

Sounds like the recipe for yet another wonder UCL winning season 💀

It’s been a few hours since full time and I’m still absolutely fuming. This game was our biggest chance to beat Arsenal for a long time and to be honest, there really isn’t a better time to beat them.

Usually I’m calm and rational, try to see the positives but I can’t see any now. I’m so so sick of this squad messing up in every big game. Sick of it.

It was annoying not to get at least a point. Such fine margins. Before the game, when I looked at the line-up and saw the subs, thought we were just missing Estevao to have a really good chance of nicking a win and so it turned out. All hyperthetical and if, what's and maybe's I know, but imagine we were able to bring on Estevao for Neto after 55-60 minutes.

Upon reflection, one of the most deflating aspects about the entire match for me, is that the team at the very top of the EPL, one of, if not the strongest club in Europe on current form, were playing 6th place in the strongest and, apparently, most exciting league in European football, and the lack of quality or anything remotely akin to entertainment was palpable.

We are all fans, at varying point of our journeys through fandom and therefore we will have slightly differing appetites, mainly couched around the overarching desire to win. But for me i still cling to the hope that there is some aspect of entertainment served up. After all with so few trophies available, entertainment has to have some part to play to set the huddled masses up for the week ahead in our dreary lives.

The fact that Stoke on Thames won with two set pieces against our one and that their winning goal started with a blatant Timber dive that gave the free kick that led to the corner that Timber himself scored from is indicative of where our game currently is. We replace entertainment and enjoyment, with outrage at constant cheating, crap refereeing and poor VAR decisions, along with shocking standards of basic touch and control being displayed by the most highly paid players that game has ever known.

It was pretty much the strongest Arsenal team Arteta could put out and likewise, except for the weak and underperforming Neto, it was probably the same Chelsea team that all of us would have picked. Personally, for me, i thought the quality from both sides was bloody awful.

We are so close! We just need one more, only one.

Yep, as I said before, IF Arsenal go onto win it this season, as much as they're fans won't care about HOW they won it, we can be smug and tell them they are the worst team to win it for a long time. Their football was sh*te. Even their golden boy Saka was very unimpressive - no way a guaranteed started for England at the World Cup if he continues to perform like that.

But they're not alone, there are very few "flair players" playing right now. God, you would quite happily pay the entrance fee to watch the likes of Zola, Joey Cole, Hazard etc. Now you are paying more to see players like Neto, Garnacho and Gusto!!
