Because Enzo is the only b2b in the squad. Santos is a deep lying midfielder, like Caicedo, like Lavia, and likely the other teenager CM.
Enzo will never be dropped regardless of the manager and it's not because of owner pressure -- it's characteristics. Only way he's dropped is if the club fixes the unbalanced roster/midfield by signing players.

Caicedo plays b2b for Ecuador and is immense. Hell, even at Brighton he played b2b at times with Groß sitting and he was immense.

The game hasn’t even started and this thread is a cesspool of despair.

😂😂😂

heheh and Tbf it's the same choices and the same selections as usual. Perhaps people were expecting some drastic change, but this is the squad we've got until the window opens.
There is no reason to despair -- play the game and win it. The opposition is not significantly better any way you look at it.

Sorry, I wasn't clear in that first reply.
It's not a matter of needing to play a b2b, but needing a player with some attacking knack as well as one who knows how to defend like a CM to play in that CAM position. The better fit for every manager seems to be Enzo and I agree with that assessment. (I happen to see Caicedo play for Ecuador esp against Brazil and he's excellent but does little in attack).

Is it enough? probably not esp given that Enzo's the only option for that role in the squad (aside from the loaner). So, I get the criticism, but I think they are misdirected. The player plays to his current ability level... it's the club's task to build a homogeneous squad.

I dont get why sanchez is benched. Sorensen is a terrible shot stopper and isnt even that great with his feet. its like the project is re starting because i recall Maresca doing the same after Sanchez howlers until he figured to play with Sanchez's strengths which are long passes..

Gonna be a long watch tonight

IM NOT SURPRISED HES A TERRIBLE SHOT STOPPER OR NOT GREAT WITH HIS FEET, HE'S GETTING ON A BIT NOW..49 I BELIEVE...

I DIDNT EVEN KNOW WE HAD SIGNED HIM

The guy isn’t even mobile, lacks physicality and weak in duels that is why they have stopped playing him in midfield. The only thing he adds attacking wise further upfield is ghosting into space. Can’t dribble, isn’t instinctive, and can pass in tight spaces.

That's your opinion, fine. I find it harsh, but whatever.
So, perhaps the question is whether we should get someone better? maybe we should, yeah.
