American sniper ,Bradley cooper directed by clint eastwood....good film with a sad ending 8/10

I saw a trailer for this the other day and it looked interesting, very tense, and Clint Eastwood is a very good director. I understand it's been quite controversial in the US, and from what little I know about Chris Kyle (the American Sniper referred to in the title) I gather he was a brilliant soldier but a terrible human being, so it will be interesting to see how he is portrayed in the film.

The Imitation Game, really, really well-written. I'm finally beginning to understand the inordinate hype about Benedict Cumberbatch. Keira Knightley was stunning.

Great film with both the leads fantastic. Agree about Keira Knightley, in her early films she was often awfully wooden. Now she can claim to be in films for her great acting as well as great looks.

Just watched Locke on Netflix. Despite the whole film being set in one car, I found it very enjoyable and the storyline kept me hooked.

Tom Hardy did an excellent job.

Enigma.

Biopic about the man who cracked the German Enigma machine during the 2nd World War, Alan Turing.

They estimate that breaking the enigma and subsequently inventing computers in the process Turing cut the war short by 2 years which meant an estimated 14 million fewer people died as result.

Fairly enjoyable film and Benedict Cumberbatch is quite good in the lead role.

The subject matter itself is probably more interesting the film, it's based on a book which might be worth a read.

Very sad ending for Turing given his contributions to the world.

:laugh2: Ah, the stunning comment was more in reference to her looks but yeah, she's improved in that regard too.

Is it called Enigma now?

No, Imitation Game.

Apparently I just made up a new title in my eagerness to type up my shambles of a review and the brain cells working at half speed on a Monday morning.

The Imitation Game

Benedict Cumberbatch is pretty good at playing Alan Turing, the enigma code breaker. good movie

Tom Hardy is a great actor. Have you seen Bronson?

Warrior is good aye, but check out Bronson if you haven't seen it, hes completely crazy as you'd expect haha. Possibly his most diverse work!

I didn't mind Bronson but it felt a bit repetitive, Nicolas Winding Refn directed it who went on to do the brilliant Drive.

One of my favourite Hardy roles/films was Inception.

I watched the Interview last night, one of those films you have to turn your brain off and soak in the stupidity if you're going to enjoy it.

I did that and it was quite funny, can understand why the North Koreans might find it a bit tasteless though

I have that on Bluray, must give it a watch again, only seen it once in the cinema.

Inception is one of my favourite films and Hardy's character was a laugh. One of my favourite clips of the film:

As for Bond, not a bad idea!

To add, I've never seen Bronson. I'll give it a go sometime.

Ha ha, I just watched Taken 3, exactly what I expected...you know whats coming and as long as you go in to it knowing that you get what you deserve  , I thought it was OK, like the first two if you're in the mood for a load of banging about.

I'd never seen the first two. I was seriously pissed off because the friend I'm staying with insisted on going to see that because she fancies the pants off Liam Neeson. I wanted to go to The Theory Of Everything, but she refused. I was paying for it, since she is putting me up, so I forked out nearly eighteen quid for two seats to watch car chases and gun fights. Grrrrrrrrrr!

the 3rd hobbit film. was okay, but by the latter parts it was getting tedious and i lost interest and just wanted it to finish.

Pretty much what I thought of the first one. And even more so for the second. I won't be seeing the third.

I would have left halfway through. It's what I did once - never mind that I'd already paid to watch it, I would have paid yet more to see the back of that excruciating experience!
