Out of interest has anyone seen Judgment at Nuremberg? Always meant to watch it but can't believe I never got around to it.

Ride Along 2. 6/10, I enjoyed it. One of the better slap stick comedies which I'm not usually a fan of but after seen The Revenant and Room I was in need of a light hearted film(!)

I saw Bone Tomahawk the other day and found it quite disappointing. It's a sort of western/horror with a bunch of gunslingers travelling deep into Indian country to rescue a couple of townspeople who have been kidnapped (from inside the jailhouse, somehow) by weird cannibal savages. I've no idea why the savages would travel such a long distance to kidnap these two particular people from the most secure building in town, but I guess it was handy for the sake of the film's plot. The savages look pretty scary but are also amazingly stupid and pretty sh*t at fighting (they like to pop out of cover and then freeze for a couple of seconds before throwing their tomahawks, giving the good guys just enough time to shoot them). The synopsis was very appealing to me but the film takes itself far too seriously considering the subject matter and moves forward at a snails pace.

Citizen Kane, I know some people don't get it, they find it dull, but I understand why people love it, the acting and the cinemotography is top notch.

Rosebud!!  I love Citizen Kane.  Orson Welles is superb!

Watched Spectre last night.

It's a bit sh*t really isn't it?

After the brilliance that was Skyfall this was just so... Eurgh.

The film was too long with too many dull talky bits that weren't entertaining.

Bond has transformed from jaded, aging spy to super soldier. Dropping mofos by firing an assault rifle one handed.

He's apparently able to blow up an entire facility with one bullet and can shoot down a helicopter with a hand gun with bullet whilst on a moving speedboat.

It was neither one thing or another, the action just didn't go with the gritty cinematography.

Waltz was wasted, despite the 2.5 hour running time it felt like he was barely in it.

Yeah, not impressed.

Well of course he can.  He's James Bond.  Do you really mean, these things aren't possible?  And I always thought the Bond films 100% realistic.

This is a direct sequel to Skyfall.

He was unable to hit a target from something like 20ft when he was tested at MI6 but they let him back in anyway.

So now apparently less than 12 months later he can shoot a gas valve that's more than 100ft away and blow up an entire secret evil base with one bullet.

My problem was that it doesn't know whether it wanted to continue the more grounded, gritty take on Bond that Craig has been portraying or throwback to the Brosnan/Moore more cartoony approach to action.

Tonally, it's just all over the place.

It was a big anniversary so they wanted to have a bit of a throw back didnt they?

Bond is supposed to be fun at the end of the day, the movies never set out to be gritty and overly realistic.

I prefer the older silly style, that to me is a Bond movie.

I watched a wonderful film on DVD the other night.

It is called "What We Did On Our Holiday".  It stars David Tennant, Billy Connolly and Rosamund Pike, and three fantastic kids, the youngest one of whom reminds me of my granddaughter.  Hilarious and moving at the same time.

/\ based on that Moi, we have watched it on Netflix this afternoon. Neither of us is a Tennant fan, but what a great film. As you say such fun and moving, brilliant kiddies.

Went to see Steve Jobs last night (my dozy friend kept up her doziness by stating on the way that it was the film about "the Microsoft guy"!).  I enjoyed it, more than most biopics I've seen.  Good script with some great lines.  The plot is pretty well-known I guess and not very much to it but strangely absorbing.

I haven't seen What We Did on Our Holiday but my son and his girlfriend didn't like it - I think from what you say about it, maybe they found the juxtaposition of comedy and sadness too difficult to reconcile.

We related to it because death is more real for us, youngsters, as did we, feel they will live forever. I think it's a coming of (older) age film.

Just came back from the local cinema. This is the one I watched:

It's a solid movie and I'm not surprised it's been nominated for several awards, but I'm surprised it's been nominated for best film editing so many times. I'm not saying it isn't well edited (it is), but it was more like a solid job that served the story instead of something exceptional. Just a solid job.

Kingsman 7/10 decent film quite entertaining.

I first misread it as Klinsmann and for a brief moment wondered: "Oh, I didn't know they've already made a movie about him..." :happy001:
