loz Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 Normally when we lose I can still find a player who I felt didn't deserve to be on the losing side however tonight I must admit I am struggling to pick one. It really was an insipid 90 minutes from Chelsea. No denying we should have two penalties but even then I still think we deserved to lose purely on the grounds that we showed up, kicked off and then looked like we were treading water until the final whistle. As usual we will get people voting for van Aanholt because they see themselves as the Arthur Scargill of MOTM votes however if I am absolutlely forced to give it to someone it is going to be McEachran for the simple reason he was just as good/bad as anyone else on the park whereas he should have been the one being nurtured through the game by far more experienced players. If Drogba really is still suffering from the after effects of malaria then we should be looking at dropping him. His performances recently have been fairly horrific and tonight he as diabolical.
Ben Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 Josh, shows some bits of class on the ball. Has to play v Spurs, but you now he won't
Ruh Buh Juh Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 Far and away McEachran. I think I counted two misplaced passes, which is just phenomenal from a 17 year old.
PloKoon13 Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 McEachran. The majority of the chances we had came from McEachran's excellent through balls.
scottish born chelsea blue Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 huge vote for josh shame the senoir playours cnt get to his level can we dok there wadges or something
High Street Ken Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 Josh, of course, but he's wasted in such a deep role. He can turn on half a sixpence and that ability would be invaluable further forward when combined with his innate passing ability. I also thought he showed remarkable strength for a littlun. I think this is almost like the martial artist, who turns a larger opponent's force against him.
Chippy Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 Josh for me as well, I've not seen him come on and not look like a first team player and now even as a starter he was consistently as good as anyone could expect. Essien has been very quiet and Drogba is really not himself which reallly makes it hard for whoever the other nine players are. Nobody was really good in a game where regaining confidence was more (for our season) important than the result, that said I would have loved to see the lads get maximum points from the groupstage. I said to Mrs chip as soon as JT went off that we would lose 1-0 as a makeshift defence needs a leader, bringing Bruma in next to JT is the only real way to give him a proper opportunity.
alan'82 Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 hi everyone, first post on here, what is the opinon on drogbas attitude. As captain in recent games, thought he was poor to say the least.New players to the team like ramires and josh will look to him as a leader but what will they see?.I don't want to have a go at a player who has at times been a match winner for us on many occasions but, as a senior pro, in tough times, we need leaders on the pitch, any thoughts?.
Guest Sindre Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 (edited) McEachran. No one even close to him. Edited December 8, 2010 by Sindre
geezer Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 Without a doubt Josh. Showed he's more than capable of playing on the big stage. Can't wait to see him get the opportunity of playing alongside Lamps anytime soon. He shouldn't be played in the holding role though because he excels playing further forward, almost a tip of the diamond type player
ethicalstrategy Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 Looks like I'm the lone voice of dissent! Josh did do well and I think he has earned a chance in the starting lineup ahead of Ramires. But Ivan was our best player, comfortably.
Nibs Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 Looks like I'm the lone voice of dissent! Josh did do well and I think he has earned a chance in the starting lineup ahead of Ramires. But Ivan was our best player, comfortably. Poor old Josh. As far as ES is concerned it's gonna be Joey all over again. Just wait 'til he tries his first step-over!!
barak81 Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 Went for Josh but for him to really make the most of his potential we need him to be playing much closer to the strikers
blizeH Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 Josh was our best player, comfortably. Fixed. But to be fair to you es, Bran was the only player who even came close to Josh's performance IMO.
ethicalstrategy Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 Poor old Josh. As far as ES is concerned it's gonna be Joey all over again. Just wait 'til he tries his first step-over!! I hope for his sake that he isn't Joey all over again. But seriously, I like the kid and I would like to see him start on Sunday. I just thought that Ivan was our best player last night.
blizeH Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 They were the two players who genuinely seemed like they cared, I remember Ivanovic going absolutely nuts and shouting/waving his arms about at his team mates for not showing ever when he had the ball and needed someone to pass to, I actually quite liked that :D (I think it was mostly Drogba and Kalou this was aimed at, could be wrong though)
rahul Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 Josh and Ivanovic were the only ones looking interested last night. I hope last night's performance by the poor 17 year old whippersnapper can clear some doubts in the mind of Carlo (and also some over here) that he is way ahead of his age when it comes to football. He really can make a difference out there. People keep banging on about Carlo knows best and sees a lot of the players in training, but the fact is when it comes to actually performing in matches, its out there for all to see. And let me hasten to add the obvious, what goes on on the training ground doesnt give you points. Its what goes on in actual matches. Who plays good and who consistently stinks. So lets hope common sense prevails for the team selection in future.
