IMO we should have tried harder to keep Chalobah.

August 2, 20178 yr Every player we're linked with seems to be a dead end. In the morning rumours start surfacing about being linked with such and such player and within the next 12 hours the players manager/chairman/agent comes out saying the players is invaluable/unavailable. I understand that this is sometimes used as a ploy to raise any potential offer but it so bloody tedious!!!
August 2, 20178 yr clubs now know that this far in to the market clubs start getting desperate, they know who our targets were and did not get them and now we are going for our second choices which leave the selling clubs in a position to ask for stupid money. Conte will have given the board a list of players at the end of last season and they should have gone after them straight away and quietly.
August 2, 20178 yr What's silly is we will pay 30 mil each for a couple of players we don't want rather than buying the bucket and using that money to buy someone like Sandro. As for maduidi he always looks a menace when we play psg I think at his age he would be happy to play a Ramires type role, rotation and for games the manager feels his style suits, or as a sub to bring in energy, at 30 a 2 year contract with good wages at a top club with a role to play is a perfect scenario for him, offer him a good wage and he will accept. Psg need to sell players after buying naymar, we should hit them up for a couple of their players and a CM of kante, bakayoko, cesc and Matuidi is strong.

Imagine if the board went out and offered 60m for Sandro back in May/June. We wouldn't even be having this conversation. Prior to July, the highest fee was 40m+ for B Silva. Unrealistic but it was still justifiable, the board however thinks that everything can be negotiated, lo and behold the prices skyrocketed since then and now every top player is worth 60m+ Edited August 2, 20178 yr by Deino

August 3, 20178 yr Matuidi is one of the most brain dead footballers i have seen, hope we stay far far away from him.
August 3, 20178 yr Matuidi is one of the most brain dead footballers i have seen, hope we stay far far away from him.Pretty useful for breaking play. Have done well for PSG and France. However I think we need a more creative player than Matuidi.
August 3, 20178 yr The big clubs have started to move, reports and rumours about Real and Barca moving for Dembele and Mbappe has surfaced

August 3, 20178 yr La liga have blocked the naymar transfer on grounds of being unfair to other teams and some sh*t that he himself has to pay the clause, they can't win that battle in court but they can delay the transfer, and hope it goes away, it has nothing to do with anything other than the fact la liga, having only 2 teams, see it as detrimental that a richer league like the PL or in this case a rich club can buy their best tallent and draw away from the league, if Barca and real lost ronaldo and messi to huge bids (and they will to age soon anyway) people stop watching their uncompetitive leage, those 2 teams having huge stars keeps la liga relevant without them the league is dead and this is the reason they don't want neymar gone and none other
August 3, 20178 yr I think Barcelona will be the losers and it only makes them look 'smaller', what's that saying. 'no player is bigger than the club.'

I hate the way football's money & player distribution mechanisms entrench certain clubs to allow them ongoing, and self perpetuating, advantages over their would be rivals. What you've said above hadn't occurred to me but it makes perfect sense. It's logical for LA Liga to try to protect the privileged position of its top two clubs, and so its whole league. Logical, but disgusting. I hope that PSG & City will keep sticking it to the old money clubs until they feel forced to accept FFP regulations which are actually fair. Speaking of FFP, Paris must have given some thought to how they are going to cook the books so they can slip this spending through. This little story is going to be fun to watch. August 3, 20178 yr I'm more of a believer of 2nd or 3rd for Chelsea. We'll have more fixtures and we lack depth. Apart from that every team will play against the champions like its a cup final. I will be happy if we are second and we get to the semi final of the champions league.
August 3, 20178 yr That's even worse we're buying a 30 year old that's unproven in this league and unwanted by Inter and is being shoehorned into an unnatural position...and we're expected to cough up £25-30m for this...err no thanks...if you want depth for RWB get Toljan for £13m and Barkley/Oxlaide Chamberlain for around £25m each...I will even take Boro's Traore right now over him.

August 3, 20178 yr I think the best move we can make right now is to take the Sandro money and add the Costa fee and get Bale. Yes he's had a couple of years with a few injuries but our medical team is in my opinion the best there is. We have an incredible record of keeping players injury free. Then wait for Celtic to probably be dumped out in the next CL Qual round and sign Tierney to cover both WB positions. Bale, Tierney and one of Barkley/Drinkwater/Chamberlain.
