Scored 85 goals whilst conceding 16. History lesson over. that reminds me. Petar Borita's debut, got quite lively outside before the game. Remember seeing the old wooden doors at the Stamford gate being closed at 2pm, people trying to push them open and mounted police politely asking them to go away!!!!! They must of guessed how many thousands were behind the gates queuing up to the turnstiles as that forecourt was a big piece of land. Tried running with everyone else around to the Bovril gate, no joy. So back home to Beckenham without seeing the game. The only silver lining was seeing the TV ariel on the embankment as I got the tube home knowing it was going to be on The Big Match Sunday afternoon. Ahhhhh the days before live TV games.
January 1, 201610 yr That game v Liverpool was recently shown on The Big Match Revisited. Wish they would show games from say 1976/77 and 77/78.

January 2, 201610 yr Northstand being rebuilt, Coventry away kit the following year the same but in brown one of the worse kits ever until possibly our mid 90's monstrosity. Edited January 2, 201610 yr by Passed It
January 2, 201610 yr Northstand being rebuilt, Coventry away kit the following year the same but in brown one of the worse kits ever until possibly our mid 90's monstrosity. Appalling decision on 4.30. Have watched a few clips from that era in the last few days. Ray Wilkins was every bit as good as I remember. We played some great football with a very young, home-grown side. It all went wrong when Eddie Mac walked out over a petty contract dispute. Shellito was totally out of his depth, and then came Blanchflower, relegation, Hurst and Gould. They were a grim few years. Edited January 2, 201610 yr by Backbiter
January 2, 201610 yr Author Chelsea v Everton 1984, love pics like this, the fans, the clobber, the flags, the stand, our kit, all replaced now with selfie sticks held by tourists in their North Face jackets, club issued flags, (sigh)
