What would we do without these blokes who took these pictures? A snapshot in time of the type of people we were, and dress sense. Nowadays, you can take a photo on your smartphone, then delete it in a flash, all record lost. Worse thing they ever did, sticking a camera on a smartphone, with all those self obsessed types posing in front of their contraption on a stick. Bring back the Kodak Brownie!

Newcastle had a blend of promising youth and experienced sh*te. The Newcastle left back must have had nightmares, a recurring dream of Phil Driver pissing all over him. Chivers' goal must have been in line for the goal of the season.

A lot of pace there with Walker, Rhodes Brown and Driver.

Some inch perfect crosses delivered to the nut of Colin Lee.

We gave the geordies a couple of spankings back then ( there was a 4-nil as well I think)

Yes a couple of season later we beat them 4 and again on big match, about the only two times we were on TV in those days

Agree. As someone who loves history I enjoy looking at old photographs and documents. I have loads of history books at home. As you say it's a snapshot in time. I and my sisters have loads of photos of our parents, grand-parents and great grand-parents. Always enjoy looking at the photos.

We beat them 4-0 again in the memorable 83-4 promotion season. That was the game featuring Pat Nevin's legendary dribble in which he beat the entire Newcastle team, and then nutmegged them all one by one ( I may be exaggerating)/

Sadly, there were no cameras there to record it (and disprove the claims of all who witnessed it. I'm afraid I wasn't there to see it, but I've heard it was pretty special).

I had thought that our 5-0 hammering of Leeds Utd in 1983/84 at The Bridge had been televised. But not so, sadly.

The 33,487 who attended on Sat 28th April 1984 were indeed privileged.

Scorers  were Thomas 6, Dixon 18, Dixon 23, Dixon 52, Canoville 89

Just caught the "Walk on.....walk on....with 'ope.....in yer 'eart...and yer'll nev.....er walk....a lone." Do we sing that now at the Bridge?

I was there & his goal def was something special, scored at The North Stand end IIRR.

Shame the 83/84 wasn’t on tv. I was on the benches down by the north stand. I thought the Pat Nevin run led to a cross but we didn’t score. Unbelievable performance that afternoon, showed we were ready for promotion.

The 79/80 4-0 was a good game and but for some poor results around March April time we should have gone up.

The 80/81 6-0 what a game, in a good position in the league then went on a really bad run, something must have happened behind the scenes for such a collapse. Also Phil Driver never lived up to that early performance which was a shame.

That 83/84 Leeds game was special , while a lot of fans went on the pitch I stayed in west stand at the end of the game giving abuse to our Yorkshire friends while they smashed our scoreboard up , I also done Newcastle home and away , for the away game I was on the first special and the old bill had it well sorted getting us escorted in and escorting us out , hardly saw a Newcastle fan outside all day , our support that day was great had the whole end which was packed out , best away support Newcastle had seen for years , and we got a good 1-1 draw , great game no dramas .

For the Newcastle home game I remember it being freezing , like an idiot went just wearing a lacoste polo shirt , got to Wimbledon tube station for those who can remember there used to be a little knit wear shop just outside the station , picked up a nice round neck pringle jumper cant remember how much but it was expensive for a 17 year old earning 70 quid a week , as for the game the atmosphere was electric , for me the best I`ve ever been to at our old ground ,  I was in the west stand which was rocking , the benches were going for it the shed and I mean the whole shed were bouncing ,  east stand lower ( normaly gate 13 ) but the boys were both sides of the tunnel and rocking we even had big pockets of lads singing in the east upper , as for the game 4-0 fantastic performance .

I`m 51 now and a lot of games from 82 83 84 85 will live with me forever , some games I still remember what clobber I was wearing which is sad , I was a season ticket holder for many years up until 2006 following the blues home away and Europe , now when sky put on the old premier league seasons my boys who are Chelsea mad will say were you there Dad , I normally say I think so , I cant remember ,

My oldest boy who`s 16 is of to the FA cup final this weekend , when I was 16 I was of to Cambridge Utd away div 2 .

I would not swap my time for all the tea in China

Richy: I laughed at this in the above . You said "picked up a nice round neck pringle jumper cant remember how much but it was expensive for a 17 year old earning 70 quid a week "

I was on a YTS scheme for afew months in spring/summer 1984  months, (before going to College in autumn 1984) and was on a massive £28.50 a week. £25 wage plus I got £3.50 train expenses.

So in my second wage I bought a Royal Blue Le Coq Sportif T. Shirt and Le Coq Sportif Royal Blue Short set which  came to £14. 'Chelsea training kit' I justified it as !

My old dear wasn't chuffed at me spending half my wages on Chelsea kit !

I got the lecture, again, about "Money not growing on trees !"

Was at work  Tuesday and I was chatting to a client who was in his early 70's he was from north east and football mad, I told him I followed Chelsea, he then said he remembered going to Chelsea in 80's v Newcastle, said he couldn't get in Newcastle end so they covered up colours and went in shed, he Said they had never felt so scared and intimated and it was a real eye opener and after a while went through into the benches. Don't know what all the fuss was about, I always found the shed a Friendly and polite place, where we shared knitting patterns etc!!!!!!!

Apologies if I'm on repeats- can't remember what memories I've already posted- the 6-nil I went to with an Arsenal mate from school who was very impressed with the atmosphere and general banter.

The 4-nil in 84 for some reason I didn't go, but remember Kevin Keegan saying that Pat Nevin must have had glue on the end of his boot- this really tickled a mate of mine who for a while after kept proclaiming " Pats got glue!"

Its been mentioned on here before but the away in 84 I was on one of the specials that got walked through what I now know as the Big Market- we must have walked past half a dozen pubs and there were glasses flying everywhere.

When we got to the ground, we were standing in the away end street, when a copper said " why dyou want to get in now. Why don't you take a walk around the corner and have some fun"

A few of the chaps duly darted off- I saw one of these blokes inside the ground a bit later and asked how they got on, to which he replied "'we made em look silly".

Funny thing was he had a great big shiner on him, so it couldn't have been plain sailing!

My two boys are 24 and 21 and have grown up through all the glory years, they wear all the 80's old school gear to games now, but I wish they could of experienced Chelsea in the 80's. We're off to Wembley tomorrow but it won't be anything like 1986 and the full members cup final.
