Didn't Everton win league in 85 and 87, remember a mate of mine found an Everton grey away shirt left behind in a school changing room around 84, he couldn't find whose it was and sold it to me for £5 as I liked the shirt, wore it down the park next day for football training, it didn't seem right wearing another teams shirt, so next day sold it to someone else at school, went back to my le coq sportif Chelsea shirt.

Yeah, they won FA Cup in 1984 then did the double of League and Cup Winners Cup in 1984/85.

They narrowly lost to Man Utd in 1985 FA Cup Final 1-0 and it took a great Norman Whiteside goal to beat them.

Runners Up in League and FA Cup the following season and then won the League again in 1986/87.

Bit like the Liverpool teams of the 80s. More Celts than English players, I'd say: Hansen, Lawrenson, Souness, Rush. Whelan, Houghton, Nichol ...

And Dalglish !

Well Hazard has now left, but to be honest it's nothing compared to how I felt when Nevin left, totally gutted. Maybe an age thing.

I was totally gutted when Ray Wilkins left us to join Man Utd in autumn 79.

However I knew even as a 12 year old that with us relegated at the end of 1978/79 he would move on .

Agreed, an age thing.

Yes remember that cup final as I did all of them in those days, Kevin Moran got sent off and Whiteside curled goal in bottom corner. We had a slow day in the office about 6 or 7 years ago and me and one of the younger lads in office were chatting about football, fa cup final was the highlight of the season back in the day I said, out of no where I said to him I bet I could relay off all the cup finalist and scores  between 1970 and 2002, I duly did it to the astonishment of this lad, as he checked on the computer. I said that's the power of the fa cup. He either thought I was genius or a geek!!!!. Can't remember what my Mrs told me 5 mins ago though.

Now I might be a bit byast but has there ever been a better team photo?..the blue kit, the keepers kit, managers tracksuits and off course that iconic badge on the east stand. Welcome to the 1980's Chelsea style

OK Who was the first foreign national to both score and win a European competition with Chelsea?

Is it John Dempsey who scored in the Cup Winners Cup replay in 1971? Although born in England he qualified to play for the Republic of Ireland through his parents.

That's a very good point if he ever played for Ireland. It wasn't who I had in mind though.

You're close but this guy scored before him.

I think that was Derek Smethurst. Normally useless at these types of questions, but I had a trial at Chelsea the same day as he did so I kept a close eye on his career.
