It was a fantastic result, but this article from the telegraph bought back some fantastic memories...i would have also added vicenza at home to the list, although very glad john spencer gets the credit he deserves.

For me the barcelona game (in 04 with jose in charge) was immense, 3v0 up with a final score of 4v2 - I think that tops last night.

Also the first leg of the first Barca game in 2000 when we eventually lost made me so proud. To be competing at that level again was an amazing feeling.

Interesting to hear others views on our top 3 Euro nights....

The Bridge goal, and second leg of that tie was at Highbury though right - cause Claudio did his little run from Arsenal's old dugouts.

I've got to have that ridiculous 4-4 game with the dippers from a couple of years back - just after Pat had passed away - that was one emotional game too.

I think ive became Chelsea fan after that win at Highbury for the CL.I hope many many ppl become Chelsea fans after last night.Fans are THE most important thing for a football club, we need to break the duopoly of Liverpool and ManU.

Vicenza still the best for me, possibly the best atmosphere ive witnessed at the Bridge.

Only been to one European match and that was the 3-0 against Valencia this year. But from watching on the TV i'd have Barcelona 4-2 as the top one. Then probably either the Valencia one, the Napoli one, or as mentioned, the Arsenal one. Actually..probably Arsenal as #2 because we'd been waiting to beat them for so long.

If you want to talk European nights, I'm going to go all the way back to March 24th 1971 on the way to the club's first European Trophy, the second leg of the Quarter Final against Bruges. 2-0 down after the first leg, Chelsea looked dead and buried, but goals from Tommy Baldwin, Peter Houseman, together a brace from Peter Osgood gave us a fantastic extra time victory, the scores having been tied on aggregate after 90 minutes.

This was the team that night:

John Phillips, Ron Harris, Eddie McCreadie, John Hollins, John Dempsey (Johnny Boyle), David Webb, Tommy Baldwin, Peter Osgood, Charlie Cooke, Alan Hudson, Peter Houseman

I've got that programme somewhere. I was too young to go to the game and had to go to scouts that night but you could hear the roars as the goals went in at Parsons Green. My Dad always said this was one of the best games he ever went to.

beating Barca 3-1 at the bridge was immence for me. The first time we really mixed it with a eurpoean heavy weight of the modern erea, figo,kluivert(over rated) and rivaldo up top and we desimated them... 2nd leg didnt matter.

I guess napoli may feel the same way.

The gooners game doesnt sit well with me, yes i was over the moon about it but the truth is they won the league that season and didnt loose a game, we went home with bugger all.

Beat me to it! That night was easily the best European night I've ever experienced, the atmosphere was amazing - in fact it was the best atmosphere I've ever witnessed at the Bridge.

I see noone has mentioned 3-1 over Liverpool when we finally made the final. Franks pen that night is very close to my favourite Chelsea moment fullstop.

Absolutely agree with us v Brugges at the Bridge. My voice was neverthe same after that one.

The two against Liverpool were amazing but got to be a toss up between Vincenza and Barca for me .... I was there last night and although brilliant it maybe just scrapes into the top ten

4-4 with Liverpool a few years ago is up there too, defiently one of the best games I've been too. Liverpool went 2-0 up at half time after we won 3-1 at Anfield. We managed to bring it back, but there was so many nerves and excitement in that game.

Barca 4-2 at the Bridge & Liverscum 3-2 in Semi 2nd leg at the Bridge, was at both games,atmosphere was electric.Two fantastic nights.

Last night was probably up there but only saw it on T.V.

A less obvious choice and a slightly personal one for me is Viktoria Zizkov. I guess partly as it was the first in a very long time. It was a great game and the Bridge was truly buzzing.

That's the one I always think of as well. Incredible night and what an atmosphere.

Bruges in 95, with Furlong and Stein turning over the 1-0 deficit from the first leg is another that I remember fondly.

The one European game I've been to is going to get my vote. It was against Valerenga in the Cup Winner's Cup in '98/99. 3-0, Zola and Wise scored, always forget the third.

Amazing atmosphere and come back. Mark Hughes was outstanding that night.

Definately for me the Valencia game at the Mestalla. Valencia 1-2 Chelsea (agg 2-3), Sent us into the semis, Essien with a 90 minute winner!

Barca 2004/2005 the one of the best atmospheres at the bridge and a great result....seeing Pier Luigi Collina in the flesh was good too, with his mad staring eyes..!

Bayern in the next round was brilliant too, a cracking goal from Frank, and that giant ref giving Makalele a ticking off (Maka looked like a little kid) as well as all the hoo ha about Rui Faria's hat !

Tromso away was great as well...just for the snow storm...
