As if we didn't hate Sepp Blatter enough

Fifa president Sepp Blatter has asked Bayern Munich honorary president Franz Beckenbauer to come up with an alternative to the "tragedy" of penalty shoot-outs.

Beckenbauer is head of the Football Task Force 2014, a group designed to recommend rule changes.

"Football can be a tragedy when you go to penalty kicks," Blatter said.

"Football should not go to one to one, when it goes to penalty kicks football loses its essence."

What a joke this guy is.

I don't disagree with the basic idea but to do it a few days after Chelsea win it via penalty shootout is incredibly disrespectful.

And to say Franz Beckenbauer should come up with a solution, really? Did he say this while wearing a Bayern shirt?

How about you hurry along with that goal line technology first you creep.

I know lads. I just seen this and it smacked of bitterness to me. Would he be saying this after his favoured clubs had smashed an English club with penalties??? I doubt it.

They are obviously so bitter that they didn't get their Barca v Madrid final.

I don't recall Herr Blatter having a problem with penalty shoot outs in 2008. Must have missed that one.

I have a better way, let's just give the win to the most popular team.

Could just award it to the team that plays more beautiful football...that would make him happy.

Ok, how about a replay?

The worst thing is that after Blatter will come Platini and he's just as bad. He'd just award everything to Juventus.

And this bit from the BBC site shows how senile Blatter is. He is all over the place with his opinions;

The World Cup final has twice been decided on penalties, with Brazil beating Italy in 1994 and Italy seeing off France in 2006.

Blatter referred to the "tragedy" of shoot-outs after Italy's win, although four years later he suggested having all draws in World Cup group games ending with penalties.

Excellent idea Scott, think of the money we could save in Europe, knock down all the football grounds and build luxury apartment blocks for extortionate rent, no worry about FFP and players wages, no need to bung/bribe Uefa/Fifa officials, no need for bent referees, just give old big ears to who Blatter and Plattini deem worthy, job done.

I would bet whenever Barca,bayern,real,...etc would have won this final with a penalty shootout we never heard something of this....

It is just because WE won that cup now...

Really pathetic that It now have to change after all those years!

Makes the victory much sweeter, but I'm allready scared for next year in the CL!

Corrupt corrupt corrupt :laugh2: :laugh2:

Whilst we know the guy is a pleb...what alternatives are there to the good old pen shoot out?

Play on until someone scores? We could have matches lasting for hours!

What about a points scoring system? 5 judges giving points for various categories?

how about reducing both teams down to 5 a side at the end of extra time?

I will put my mortgage on it an English premier league team won't win it next year.

..............Please asking a German about penalties ?????????????????

.........might as well go to McDonalds and ask them if they think banning hamburgers is a good idea .........................

Penalties are the fairest way to decide a tie that has not been decided in 120 (sometimes + 90) of playing time. It takes into account concentration, ability to withstand pressure, practice, decision-making, luck, team effort and it allows for non-fatal mistakes. It will be interesting to see what the alternative would be, but I just can't think of any that will not be down to sheer luck, like the toss of a coin, or impractical, like 15min halves until one of the team scores.

As for dear old grandpa Blatter, it seems pretty clear he didn't enjoy us winning the final. To come out with this days after we won it, after so many penalty shoo-outs in recent history, smacks of bitterness. Football will always be a tragedy to some and exctasy for others - which will be the case even in regular time, extra time or anything else - and giving it as a reason for changing the rules is a non-sequitur.

Penalty shoot outs are horrible, nervy, terrible ways to finish a game. But there simply isnt a better way to do it, other than maybe put the ref in nets and allow the staff to have a go.

Him and platini make me puke, thr look on platinis face as we hoisted ol big ears, looked like he was getting a bad blow job off blatter, the useless fat swedish cock, anyways his deluded rantings cannot deny us our place in "Istory"
