It started well, but I will have to stop you after Rafa runs onto the field and give you my scenario.

 

- Rafa runs onto the field and tells Lampard to let Torres the saviour take it.

- JT and Lampard has had enough and with the help of some other players carries both Torres and Rafa off the pitch while Luiz make a funny dance to make the supporters happy.

- On the bench the subs are sitting on Rafa and Torres so they can't move an inch, while Eva is standing guard with a big black lubricated truncheon.

- On the pitch, Lampard steps up to take the penalty and smashes it into the top corner.

- Chelsea wins and everyone is happy.

- After the game Roman admits his faults and agrees on making some big changes at the club.

- A month later there's a new board at Chelsea with members voted in by the fans. Jose is in charge again and Robbie is his assistant. Hiddink is hired as well to make sure the club runs well.

- The next season is a huge success. Chelseas defensive is as good as when Jose was last here and the offence is creating quite a lot of goals. We win every trophy we can. All is well.

Whatever happens, for Franks last game he should be lifted onto the teams shoulders and paraded around the pitch to a standing ovation from his loyal life long supporters, and if it's possible to get 42'000 fans to group hug a player, we should do it.

 

For me, he is the biggest legend this club has ever had, and I hope he can go out with a bang and another club record.

Best Chelsea team ever and easily one of the best moments.

 

For me THIS Chelsea team had more passion and guts then the team we have now. Our current team should look at videos from those days, they may learn something.

 

Also what a great pass to Lampard that was from Makelele for the second goal, man i miss this guy. I will miss Lampard more though.

I hope he can score goals that are not pens, i will take it obviously, but i would love his record breaking goal WHEN IT COMES to be a 25 yard screamer.

A well written piece with alot of sense.

 

I fall into the "he still has something left camp", but the comparisons to Man Utd, though galling, are apt. Kenyon and Gourlay came through this club because, presumably, Roman wants Chelsea to be a global cash cow in their image. 

 

Part of their success is based on sustained greatness, and its hard to deny that Giggs and Scholes remaining around that club doesnt play a role in that.

 

Its just hard to fathom a player who is still putting in quality performances and symbolizes so much for the club, when there are those on the bench....and kicking a ball around training with the youth team.....that are making millions this year. If the club were so concerned about trimming wages, where has that concern been the past year? two years?

Interestingly Frank has missed 9 penalties in his Chelsea career. Those misses may well become more important as we get towards the end of the year.

Look at Rooney's penalties this season, I swear he's put at least 3 into orbit, some of the "top players" in the league couldn't score from the spot if the title depended on it.

Lamps is without a doubt the best penalty taker in the league, to the point that I think no one, fan, pundit or neutral alike ever expects/worries he's going to miss.

That takes some doing.

Last time I checked, a penalty is worth as much as a goal from open play. Still, anyone who converts 90% of his over a 10 year period deserves slating.

"Lampard might retain his skills or adapt for another few years, but equally he might be a shambling shadow of his former self by this time next year. The point is we, and more importantly Chelsea, don't know. Is it worth gambling north of £7million on that?"
