Chelsea Superstition.

Featured Replies

Are you the type of person that thinks superstition is a load of old, err....... cobblers?

Normally,I'd say yes it is,whatever life throws at you, feck it,bring it on I say & I'll just try to do my best.

Oh yes,I'll walk under ladders all day,(although I'm a bit fed up with getting clobberd with paint tins and window cleaner's buckets) & if I spill salt,I won't throw some over my shoulder,no way, as that is just wastefull!.No,I'll sweep it up and put it back in the pot even though it takes me ages to pour it back through that little hole in the top.

No,I'm not superstitious at all really.......except that is when it comes to err.....ahem, football & Chelsea F.C. after all, you can't be to carefull can you?, (touch wood).

As an example,if I'm watching Chels on t.v., I must have a CFC mug with me,it must face the screen & cannot be moved while the game is on (even if the missus offers to make a cuppa, which is a minor miracle in itself really). At half & fulltime that's o.k.,but not while the game is on.

Now that may not sound to bad,but it's the same when watching the highlights on Match of The Day & I already know the bloody result!.

Honestly.....what a mug.But am I the only one?,if yes then feel free to forget this post ever happend, but if no,what's your Chelsea superstition?.

Whenever i go to a match i must do this....I go to my bathroom where i have a mirror on the wall...I then MUST get a handheld mirror and look into it so it looks into the other mirror at the large chelsea lion on my back...I dont know why i must do this ...I do not travel by train or car semi naked so people can see it...I do not strip off posing in a crowded chelsea pub..So no one sees it..All i know is that it hasnt changed into a spurs cock

My biggest superstition? It's one where I am reading a post the day before the match which contains no spaces after commas and full stops.

If I watch anything to o with Chelsea I,e. highlights of a past game on the day we play we seem to lose lol.

Tell u what was weird I used to wear my Chelsea shirt every time we played ad on the occasions we lost in the 05-06 season I didn't wear my shirt.weird huh?

I used to be superstitious, but it ruined the way I could appreciate football games so i tossed those thoughts. The game is the way it is, the way we wear our socks or whatever doesn't influence it.

I had this weird superstition for cup finals where I always believed that if a big black fella called Drogba played up front we'd win.

I don't consider myself that superstitious, although I haven't worn the shirt I was wearing during that famous night in Munich since. I can't explain it, but bringing it out for a run of the mill match just doesn't seem appropriate any-more.

I know it's completely daft, but I'll hold onto the notion of it being reserved for European finals now. It has McEachran on the back, perhaps he's destined to start in one one-day.

Like most here I think superstitions are stupid but still have 1. I can't wear any Chelsea shirts, hats, scarves or anything related to Chelsea when watching them on the tv. When I'm at a game it's no problem, I can wear what I want. But I just have it in my head that I can't wear a shirt when I'm watching the game on tv. Defeats had nothing to do with player performances, or manger decisions or ref decisions. It was all down to what I was wearing :laugh2:

Stupid, I know, but I'll continue doing it.

When I was younger I always felt that we'd lose when I watched the game, and we'd win when I didn't, so I occasionally didn't watch games I was nervous about. Realised it was silly and, as KrazyTea said, ruining my experience!

Not a superstition as such but if we're on the tele and we're 'only' winning by one I will do an awful lot of cleaning - washing up, ironing, hoovering etc to wind the clock down. On a Saturday at 3 however I'm totally fine.

When i was a kid i was really bad, and i mean REALLY bad. I used to sit at a certain angle and not move from that spot for the whole match, insane right ? i also used to wear my Chelsea shirt with every match because i thought that if i didn't then we would lose. Now here is a stupid crazy one, i used to think if i didn't play enough FIFA before a match Chelsea would seriously struggle to win . Here's another , i used to think that if i didn't go toilet before a match we struggle :face_palm: . It got so bad that i thought if i didn't listen to enough music i like we would lose.

This all built up over the course of 4-5 years then it finally hit me one day that this was insane and i had a problem. Football was taking over my life and making me hate it. Since the day i properly realised that i had this problem everything changed, i am no longer thinking about these things leading up to a Chelsea game and i am for the most part over the whole superstitious thing. I say mostly because there is one superstition that will stick with me until it proves me wrong, and that is the one where i refuse to have a dig at a player, or manager just before we play their team  that is one superstition i don't think will ever leave me.

Take my advise on this one and don't get caught up in the whole superstition stuff, it's not good for you :JC_doubleup:

I've been to about 17 live games and we've never lost a game i've been to, including napoli, man city, man utd, Liverpool etc. Every team i've taken my gf to watch Chelsea, the other team has been relegated that season. Birmingham, Bolton and she's now she's been to see reading this season so testing the theory.

Take her to see Liverpool, please.

Can we have a Shed End donation option to get him to all of our games?!

Every Chelsea player i pick up in fantasy seems to go into a slump. Every bloody time i tells ya. Haz was unreal 1st 2 games, since then has been poor (just fantasy though). Same with Nando. Had him for a while. Then dropped him last week after a poor run and he scores after making Koschielny look like a plonker. Im terrified of picking up Ivan, Mata, Oscar, Cole or Cech right now. I think immediately i should drop all Chelsea players.

I also need to wear something, anything of chelsea when i watch them. Even if i have to write Chelsea on my arm in pen.
