April 28, 201313 yr This lad deserves a chance at chelsea next year, from everything i've seen he's better than mikel in terms of technique and skill.
April 28, 201313 yr I definitely agree with him getting some time next year, he has been great every time I have watched Watford this season.
May 4, 201313 yr Author Here we are then! Final day of the season. All to play for and nothing to lose. If you guys fancy watching Nathaniel's (potentially) final game for Watford, it will be shown on red button on sky sports 2 at 12.30. Whilst staying in the championship wouldn't be a disaster as it is for more of the cash happy teams in the Championship, the chance to keep players like Vydra and Chalobah in the EPL is worth playing for. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/watford/10036933/Nathaniel-Chalobah-desperate-to-secure-promotion-with-Watford.html
May 4, 201313 yr Great goal and he runs straight to the wee genius. Blimey Nate's gone all ginger, and is playing well forward thought he was a CB. I really hope Franco bring them up. Edited May 4, 201313 yr by Scott
May 4, 201313 yr Chalobah was getting a great review on Gillette soccer Saturday before today's game kicked off...normally the panel stick the boot in to Chelsea, but they basically said we have a player who can go right to the very top...if even they can see it, one only hopes the numpties at Chelsea do Edited May 4, 201313 yr by The Brit

Fairly certain that most Chelsea fans were willing you guys to clinch it. Hope you win the playoffs, Zola deserves to be in the prem.
May 6, 201313 yr Bringing out the fact that young lampard learned a very big lot from Zola before he left. Lamps holds Zola in high regard as he took him under his wing when Frankie joined, nate must've learned a lot from him aswell. And I do hope Watford win the play-offs.
May 6, 201313 yr Zola was, is, and always will be Chelsea...and for that reason, I want him to have every success wherever he goes. So I too, am completely behind Watford's push for promotion. And it helps, that the most gifted Chelsea youth product in recent history is there too. Edited May 6, 201313 yr by Cam
May 6, 201313 yr Author Sorry that you didn't get automatic promotion mate, gutted for you. Fairly certain that most Chelsea fans were willing you guys to clinch it. Hope you win the playoffs, Zola deserves to be in the prem. Totally gutted, mainly in the knowledge that we go into the playoffs with a severely depleted squad and probably fairly low morale. It will be to the full credit of Zola if he lifts the team now, as the semi-final is only on Thursday. Not long to pick the team up. It was just one off those days you get with football. Denied a certain penalty (happens often, must be the continental style at Watford), lost two goalkeepers and had a key player sent off. Leeds had nothing to play for but seemed determined to help their rivals Hull go up. Full blooded tackles and outstanding saves are not a hallmark of a team thinking of their holidays. Thank you all for showing such an interest. With Zola and Nath it feels like we've doubled our fanbase with Chelsea support!
May 6, 201313 yr No, thank you, your input here has been very valuable. Along with Thfc you're definitely amongst the better opposition fans that we've seen on this site.
May 11, 201313 yr Author Have it on good authority that, if we were to get promoted, we would line up a bid anywhere between 8-10 million for Chalobah. I can only assume the club are aware that Chalobah has loved his time here, and feel that if any club is going to be tempted to part with their brightest young star, it would be Chelsea. I can't see anything happening, personally, but I think it is worth testing the waters on it.
May 11, 201313 yr If this were to happen.... I can't even finish the sentence, such would be my anger at the club.

That said, I don't think the club are stupid enough to let him go, unless a genuinely ludicrous offer (talking £30m here) were made. They seem to actually value him.
May 12, 201313 yr Do watford have that type of money to splash out of a youngster? I can't see that happening.
May 12, 201313 yr Do watford have that type of money to splash out of a youngster? I can't see that happening. Shows how good he is, even as an 18 year old, that a newly promoted club would be willing to spend that much on him.
May 12, 201313 yr Highly doubt Watford have 30m to spend on him, considering half their squad went back to Italy.
May 12, 201313 yr Author Do watford have that type of money to splash out of a youngster? I can't see that happening. The Watford owners philosophy is to buy young, when other teams won't take the risk, and sell when their value is up. They bought Vydra for 3 million when he was 17 playing for Banik Okstrava. Now he'll go for 15+. Same goes for Alexis Sanchez. As long as they know value will increase, there isn't really a limit on how much we can spend (within reason). As for the loan issue, it's a bit of a misunderstanding. All Watford players are Watford players. They came on loan for two reasons: -To try before you buy, with an option to purchase on all players. - We got taken over a few days before deadline day, it was more practical to loan the players rather than completely change players registration.
May 12, 201313 yr Made up for Franco. Maybe it with be him vs Gus in the final. Hope Watford make it up.

I really don't think the club is generally in the habit of selling the best 18 year old players the academy has produced. They tend to see the talented players, see if they can force themselves into the first team by the time they're about 20, and if they haven't made an impression, then think about moving them on. I think Chalobah is the best placed youth product in a long long time, to actually crack the first team. He is very advanced for his age (which is why he's playing first team football every week and playing up age groups for England). I can't guarantee we'll give him that chance, but if we sold him to Watford next season, I would be absolutely floored.
