Nathaniel Chalobah

Great news, he could stay at the club as 4th choice centre back and utility midfielder but I`m not sure how much game time he will get really. Would prefer him to go to somewhere that wont be fighting relegation really, not sure who. Perhaps Norwich or Southampton.

A good relegation battle could be good for him considering those clubs do a lot of backs to the wall defending.  Always the risk that he won't get games, but I honestly think he's got the talent to shine through.  Wouldn't be opposed to sending him to Palace.  I can't see Jose giving him anything more than a runout for us this year.  He likes to find a settled defence and stick with it, and Nate isn't going to be disrupting that this year.  Though I wonder whether Jose sees him as a CB or a midfielder.

I'd love to see him get a loan to another PL club this year and make a name for himself. Same goes for Josh, though he's starting to run out of time now.

My thinking on the relegation team is perhaps skewed by the past seeing our players left out at battling teams, but they were flouncy attacking types. I hope to see him in midfield to be honest, and looking at the squad he would have a decent chance of getting game time there over centre back.

Fantastic news, I don't think a relegation club would be good for him as usually youngsters don't get much playing time imo as managers feel so pressured and usually opt for older players.

I think he could do well at Norwich or Fulham or maybe Villa if they were interested.

Fulham or Villa would be great. west brom too

he could realistically get plenty of playing time at those clubs

so does this mean chalobah wont be going anywhere?

He can go back to Watford or another Championship side in a week.

Could always start with a loan to Watford until January, then see if anyone from PL is interested in him before keeping him there all season.

Looks like we're trying to beat last years record of what was it, 23 players out on loan? The majority of those must know deep down they have practically zero chances of ever making it at Chelsea - the percentage must get higher every season.

You can't help wondering what it must be like to be a parent of one of these kids.  Great when they get taken on and developed and absolutely brilliant for the very small percentage who make the grade but totally heart-breaking when they are told they're not good enough and have to face that reality. Wouln't want a kid of mine to go through that to be honest.

I'm quite certain coming through the system at Chelsea will grant them a far better chance of having a successful career than coming through some small club. They might not break through but if they prove themselves enough they will certainly get a transfer to a top division club should it be in England or abroad.

Er... lol?

In about 15 years we've only had 1 player come through our setup who has gone on to have a top level career - Terry. Bertrand might get there, but he's nowhere near the level JT was at that age.

Look at "smaller" clubs like West Ham, Southampton, etc... they churn out quality every few years who end up getting transferred for big money and going to top clubs.

bridcutt, phillips, stoch, tore, bruma, borini, nouble, tejera, mancienne, cork, pidgely, mellis, cummings, all played in our youth team and have gone on to make a comfortable living play professional football.

There's probably loads more, I know its disappointing that many haven't broken through, but we have been very successful at producing professional footballers.

Southampton and West ham have produced some gems in the last 20 years, but when you think that at least 50% of our current youth team will go on to make a living playing football, then we have to take credit for that.

I came through at Preston North End, and out of the lads I played with, none have made it professional.

That's the point I was trying to make, thank you for putting into better words.

When I said Top Division I didn't mean a top 4 club. Even having a successful career in the championship can be considered a success. It's better then most of the people who only sit at home criticize.

Look at Mancienne, Bruma, Borini those 3 are having very successful careers. Try making it to Hamburg or PSV or Liverpool. 90% who try don't. Southampton and West Ham may have better tactics of growing up youth but keep in mind they don't play in the champions league each year and they don't challenge for the league title, league cup and FA cup each year. They can afford to give young players 1st team action much much more than a world class side like Chelsea can. There's the difference.

I agree, I think we are getting better and better as well, and hopefully with a little stability at management level, we can start to see some youth players given a chance.

According to the Mirror, Watford and Wigan are competing to secure his services for the season.  Shame he never got a Prem opportunity.  They provided no quotes or verification as usual but they seem like likely destinations.  I think I'd rather he went back to Watford.

When it's a choice of him working with Zola or Owen Coyle I think we can all agree that it would be best if he returned to Watford.
