Nathaniel Chalobah

Featured Replies

Looks like he might go the way of Josh. Lots of hope, then some poor loan spells and slips away into obscurity.

For a few months I've suspected that the highlight of Chalobah's career might end up being that screamer he scored for Watford against Leicester, I hope that doesn't turn out to be true.

A lot of our loans this season have been disappointing, wonder if it is the players not being good enough of poor choices of the clubs they joined?

Chalobah hadn't many chances, he also got injuried during. Seems like Burnley loaned him for nothing, he couldn't affect or prove himself.

Bit of both. We hype some of them up too much, probably out of desperation that one of them might make it. But we've also loaned some of them out to teams where they have only got a handful of appearances, in same cases literally 0 appearances, which is surely the club's fault, as they must have known that before loaning them out.

Makes you wonder whether loaning our best prospects is the way to go.

Chalobah was playing for the England u21 team at 18. I think we should start taking some of the blame for failing to kick these youngsters on to the next level. Last season, instead of giving chalobah a shot, we bought van ginkel who got injured anyway. Imo chalobah would be a better player now, had he been involved in our first team last season.

Really hope we learn from this and the likes of ake, baker and boga stay with the first team. Rather than dropping doen divisions playing with inferior players, under inferior coaches, in inferior facilities.

We f**ked him over when he came back from Watford. The Forest loan was completely the wrong choice for him and it set him back massively, which just goes to show that even 5 months lost at that age is enough to derail a career.

Don't know if he can come back with Ake and Loftus-Cheek seemingly overtaking him in the pecking order so I feel for the lad.

Said at the start of the 2013-14 season that if he had a big season he could've been a wildcard for the World Cup squad simply because that's a position we're severely lacking in but the guy never got going.

Have no idea where he goes from now because I doubt a PL team will take him. Maybe a loan to the Championship or abroad, but wouldn't be surprised to see him follow in the illustrious footsteps of Michael Mancienne.

The fact that Ake is closer to the team than any of our loanees should answer that.

That said, loans do work. We just don't seem to have a plan in place to integrate them into the team afterwards.

I think Ake is one of the best youths we've had in a while so I'll be pretty upset if he ever goes out on loan cause I can pretty much grantee he would never play for us again.

Zola was the one who brought Chalobah to Watford, he also promoted his football there. Would be amazing if Zola will loan Chalobah again to Cagilari (he's the manager there now).

Rumors of him going to Bourdeaux for the rest of the season. Hopefully wherever he goes he will get playing time!

Sounds like a weird move and not sure how he actually moves forward. He's lost pretty much all momentum he built up at Watford and that is our fault.

Hard to think of a youth we've mismanaged more than him.

There are plenty of other candidates for "most mismanaged youth at Chelsea".

I'm not sure. Josh might be up there but the guy seems more obsessed with Nandos then playing football. Kakuta never had the right attitude, Mancienne and Bruma weren't ever that great, a few others might get chucked in there.

Chalobah went from having a breakout season at Watford to going back to the Championship, to a worse side who didn't play the formation or football that suited him before a decent loan to Boro, before then being sent to a Premier League team who were never really likely to be in a position to use him.

It's not like we can't do decent loans (Lukaku, Courtois, Bamford, Omeruo) but we just f**ked up completely here.

Thing with Josh (and most of our failures) was the constant changing of managers over the years. Managers are never going to give younger lads a chance as it's too risky for their job. If Ancelotti stayed and was still here, I'm positive Josh would have made it with us.

I am hopeful that once Mourinho gets a few trophies under his belt with this current squad he will start giving the younger players more game time. He can't really afford to risk it this season imo and go another year without a trophy, sadly.

Brendan Rodgers screwed Josh over with the Swansea loan, he shouldn't have taken him if he had no intentions of playing him.

The Boro loan was a success and he played well but he's just not kicked on from there.

Kind of agree but I don't think Swansea expected Sigurdsson to be as good as he was at that time. I also don't think he would have gone there if Ancelotti was in charge.

Chalobah's loan to Bordeaux blocked by FIFA...

"Players may be registered with a maximum of three clubs during one season. During this period, the player is only eligible to play official matches for two clubs."

I believe he can still move domestically, but what a bunch of c*nts.

Shame, thought it would have been a good move for him...

So was he registered with Chelsea before his loan to Burnley?

The article on WAGNH explains in detail, but it would seem the move was blocked because he was registered for the Chelsea senior squad, the U21s (apparently the FIFA Professional Development League is considered an 'official competition'), as well as Burnley...

Good luck to him, hopefully he will get minutes and will prove himself once again. He's one of the talents that I think would succees.

Its good to hear there is a chance for Chalobah able to play on Sat in Reading's Cup tie vs Cardiff. Now I will keep an eye on that match.

He finally finished 90 minutes!! How did he play today, can someone find any information about his game today?

I know right? I looked in the match stats & saw that he had a shot on goal too. I guess we can watch the FA Cup for Chalobah's participation
