Nathaniel Chalobah

Agreed charierre. Had a few nice moments. Depends of course what happens with Mikel and Matic, but he wouldn't let us down as a backup/partner for Kante. His long range distribution was probably the highlight for me. His movement off the ball was a bit lazy for mine at Toulon but that appeared less of an issue yesterday.

He was certainly more impressive than RLC who was very poor in his stint yesterday.

Agreed, however Ruben was played as a ST for some strange reason.

I'll admit I wrote him off in recent times but he really is working hard and showing his ability in pre season so far, Very energetic and tidy on the ball offers more than Mikel does anyway.

You would think giving these youngsters a chance would be obvious. Aina, chalobah, loftus-cheek, traore, are all proving themselves right now. And are all playing in positions where we are lacking.

Love the way he's re-making his name here. After all these loans I thought we're going to lose him and release him. He was one of our most promising academy players and after his last performance against Real Madrid, I think he just proved why he is. He's still 21 years old, he still has a lot of time to fight for his place here and I'm sure he can do it. His position is very important for us, maybe it's too early for him to become a starter, but as a backup for Kante and Matic, he is the player.

He's a clever footballer, he knows the defensive work very well and he actually can go forward and show some danger over the goal. His last loan in Napoli wasn't impressive, but since then he has changed. His confidence is improved, he seems very hungry and ready to fight for his place here. I really hope we will keep him in the squad.

To be fair, in current form i'd start him over Matic. It's scary how much that bloke has declined.

great little player. I really think he could establish himself in midfield ahead of matic with the way he looks pre-season. i would like to see him next to fabregas or kante.

Not sure he could do any more performance wise this pre-season to be involved in the squad next season.

He's quite a versatile player too, can play in defence as well which you would like to think would count in his favour.

I'm interested to see if he is kept on because if not this year then I think it's safe to say he has no future at Chelsea and we should be looking to sell him for the sake of the lads career because he's not going to achieve anything by going on loan again.

i would have in in the side along side Kante , from what i have seen in pre-season. He has more energy and pressures the opposition better then Matic.

In last nights cameo he did well, added some bite and pace and some quicker passing, especially longer balls and has these attributes that matic doesn't have.

Definitely worth a squad place imv.

I'm a big fan of this guy. Physically strong and his passing range is impressive. Wouldn't be bad if we had someone next to fabregas who can pass a ball over 40 yards. Matic certainly isn't someone who's capable of that.

please lord i hope we don't send this lad on loan again. with the loaning of youngsters lately i am fretting he'll be next.

pray for nathaniel

If Traore can be loaned, I'd assume pretty much all of the rest can as well, he was the closest to being in a first team squad member, in fact I would have said he was one.

I wouldn't be surprised if we seen Aina & Chalobah go on loan... RLC might just survive in the squad.

Chelsea youngsters Riben Loftis-Cheek and Nathaniel Chalobah will not be loaned out by Antonio Conte this season and will be given the chance to fight for a first team pleace.

Loftus-Cheek (20) and Chalobah (21) were in Chelsea's squad for their EFL Cup win against Bristol Rovers last night, although the latter did not get on the pitch.

When asked about Loftus-Cheek, who started the game last night, Conte said:

"He stays here.

"I repeat it is right to improve the player in the squad but also to give the opportunity to a young player like Loftus with a great talent to stay with the first team and to help us."

He also confirmed that Chalobah will stay, too.

3 Chelsea players scored and they are just talking about Rashford..

Pity Allardyce coudn't be arsed to stay longer than 65 mins. Chelsea doing it for England again.

Was listening to Talksport today and they wer quite rightfully questioning why after having played 88 games for the under 21s, why hasn't he started for Chelsea. They talked about his multiple loan moves and that he's 21/22

Got to say, I agree with it. I don't mind kids going out on loan but not when they're 21/22. Either play them or sell them.
