Rob Beasly reports that Jose is demanding the OX or Walcott in exchange for him, personaly I'd rather the OX at only 21 he's very raw but clearly a decent player.Try's a lot of high percentage stuff so Jose and the coaching team would have to work with him on game management but I't would soften the blow.

Lets look at it this way, last time we went to war with arsenal in this arena it looked like we had gotten screwed. Not even 5 years later it was clear we had gotten he far better end of the deal

No one has mentioned burning shirts or shown any ill-will towards Cech in this thread at all, so not sure why you even brought that up.

I expect the vast, vast majority of Chelsea fans agree with me when I say I don't want to see one of our all-time legends going off to play for Arsenal or Man Utd. I'd also like to think the club respects us enough not to do it, and hope they'd have enough common sense to see the folly in strengthening one of our main rivals. Heck, I'd like to think Big Pete himself thinks enough of us enough not to do it.

The trouble is, Cech is still a top keeper and deserves and will want to play in the CL. If he doesn't fancy upping sticks and going abroad then his options are limited to City, Utd and Arsenal. As much as I wouldn't want to see him playing for a rival, we find ourselves in a situation that has no easy solution.

For me, it does make a big difference that the position is that of a keeper. I would hate to see, say JT or Drogba or Lampard (when still at his peak) go to a rival but with Cech it really won't be the end of the world. Sure he will earn them extra points but hopefully not make a big enough difference overall.

I'd take Walcott, I think he's the better player and if Eva worked her magic I'm sure he'd stay fit a lot more.

Would love us to get the Ox, but we need to be careful. They could send us Gibbs instead.

Him being a top keeper is all the more reason not to let him go to a rival. Why strengthen a title rival with no gain for us? The club still has some say in the matter.

Ox is always injured no thanks. Would just rather we said to them they can't had Cech.

Every one is always injured at arsenal, we can't take it seriously.

But you can't make him stay against his wishes and you can't say "No, you can't go to Arsenal / Man Utd but tell you what, we'll let you go to West Ham / whoever"!!

He has been a great servant and it is our choice that he is no longer No.1 so we have to accept the consequences plus I am sure we would want his leaving to end amicably.

I don't think many people would be upset at Cech himself. Would be upset at the club though. Much like no one is upset with Mata.

Dunno, at the end of the day Chelsea didn't respect him enough to not replace him long before his time. He gave us his all, and we replaced him early. The club thought only of themselves, and now Cech has the opportunity to think of only himself.

That's why I'd be unhappy with the club if it happened. Their own fault.

He's still under contract though, and whoever wants to buy him has to negotiate with us. We aren't obliged to sell him to a rival just because he fancies it, just like United didn't sell us Rooney, or Spurs didn't sell us Modric, or Liverpool didn't sell Suarez to Arsenal.

Like Stim just said, this is a situation of the club's own making, and will probably result in one of our rivals being strengthened. Personally I'd still have Cech here ahead of Courtois.

I wouldn't be unhappy with the club but you're bang on about us replacing him. He could've kicked up a fuss but he acted like a complete gentleman and I think that will be a factor in the way we treat him.

At the end of the day, I want this club to treat it's legends (because he is a legend, not a "legend" as someone else posted) with the utmost respect. I honestly don't think we're the type of support to begrudge a man that gave us over a decade of incredible service and faced actual danger to his health, something very, very few players can say.

And if Arsenal do beat us to the title next season with Cech in the team, then there will have been a massive cock-up at this club that would go far beyond selling Cech to them.

Well there's two distinctions there.

One, none of those players were A) legends and B) replaced.

Also, their fans are petty c**ts. Our's aren't.

I don't disagree with most of that and as much as I think Courtois is correctly our No.1 now, I don't want to see Cech playing for one of our rivals. BUT goalkeeper is a unique position. We did well to persuade him to stay this season but it was never going to be a situation that would last. Any outfield player can battle for a place and often get on during a game but a keeper will rarely get used when not installed as the No.1.

We have done the right thing for the LONG-TERM. Courtois could well now be our keeper for the next decade as Mourinho looks to establish us as the best in Europe - and Cech will have long since hung up his boots & gloves. I will wish him all the best, Wherever he ends up.

Personally i still think Cech is better but YES Courtois is required for the next 10 years so we needed to play him to keep him.

Maybe Cech is comfortable in England and wants to stay here (more London than anywhere!).

The decision on his future should be a joint decision. Both sides giving a little.

Anyway where is Cech now and why is he not finishing the season in goal (once league was wrapped up)?

You don't strengthing your rivals willingly, if there are any other clubs after Cech you ignore your rivals and do your absolute best to sell that player to someone else.

If we were desperate to improve a position our rivals wouldn't let us sign one of their players. With Mourinho's and Wenger's problems right now, Arsenal would never sell us one of their players if we wanted him. The same goes for Man United. We wanted Rooney, they wanted Mata, we gave them Mata, but they were never going to give us Rooney.

I respect everything Cech has done for us, but we have also done a lot for him. The club has paid his wages and given him a great life, the fans have called him the best goalkeeper the Premier League has ever seen and supported him for 10 years. We have given as much to Cech as he has given to us.

Cech going to any of our rivals shouldn't even be an option.

Big difference is that we wanted Rooney but Utd didn't want to sell. They wanted Mata and we did want to sell. They wouldn't have got anywhere near Mata if he was still wanted. And it's similar with Cech. We may want him to stay, but by letting him know he is no longer No.1 so therefore has little chance of playing, we are pretty much saying, you are no longer needed.

We wanted Rooney, they didn't want to sell him to us, so he stayed. If we hadn't wanted to sell Mata to United, he would have stayed or gone somewhere else. In both cases it was the selling club who determined whether the deal went through. So United and Arsenal want Cech. Well tough. They'd probably like quite a few of our players. Even if Cech is not needed, there's no obligation to sell to one of our direct rivals. That's what Arsenal do.

No, Arsenal have to let players go who they don't want to lose. We are allowing Cech to leave (although I'm sure we'd love him to stay) on his terms and with our best wishes.

Put it like this. The players Arsenal allow to leave are booed because they force through moves. Cech will not be booed. A player who may well join a rival won't be booed, he'll be cheered in all likelihood. That is the difference. The same was true of Mata.

We don't lose key players we absolutely want to keep.

That's what Arsenal do.

No one has advocated booing Cech or shown him any ill will in all this, so I don't know why you keep bringing that up.

Arsenal lose players they don't want to lose and lose them to clubs they don't want to lose them to. When Liverpool sold Suarez, he went to Barcelona rather than Arsenal. When Modric left Spurs, he went to Real rather than Chelsea. When we lost Robben, it wasn't to another PL team. When Arsenal lost Van Persie, he went to Man Utd. Think if Real or PSG had tried to buy Rooney United would have put up such resistance?

Sure we're allowing Cech to leave and he leaves with our best wishes. That doesn't mean we have to sell him to one of our title rivals.
